ADJUSTMENTS
A
CAUTION
Do
not
at
any
time
make
any
adjust¬
ment
to
lawn
mower
without
first
stopping
engine
and
disconnecting
spark
plug
wire.
THROTTLE
CONTROL
To
Check
Operation:
1.
Remove
air
cleaner.
2.
Move
throttle
control
lever
to
“CHOKE”
posi¬
tion.
The
carburetor
choke
should
be
closed.
3.
Move
throttle
control
lever
to
“STOP”
posi¬
tion.
Lever
should
make
good
contact
with
stop
switch.
If
adjustment
is
needed,
refer
to
the
separate
engine
manual
packed
with
your
unit.
BRAKE
ADJUSTMENT
(See
Figure
18)
The
brake
is
located
by
the
left
rear
wheel
i
iside
the
frame.
To
adjust
the
brake,
remove
the
cotter
pin.
Adjust
the
castle
nut
so
the
brake
sta
ts
to
engage
when
the
brake
lever
is
Va"
to
5/16"
away
from
the
axle
housing.
Figure
25
is
shown
with
the
unit
tipped
up
on
rear
wheels
for
clarity
only.
During
normal
operation
of
this
fnachine,
the
brake
is
subject
to
wear
and
will
require
peiiiodic
examination
and
adjustment.

The
caster
(forward
slant
of
the
king
pin)
and
the
camber
(tilt
of
the
wheels
out
at
the
top)
require
no
adjustment.
Automotive
steering
principles
have
been
used
to
determine
the
caster
and
camber
on
the
mower.
The
front
wheels
should
toe-in
1/8
inch.

To
adjust,
follow
these
steps:
1.
Remove
the
cotter
pin
and
flat
washer
which
hold
the
tie
rod
to
the
axle
bracket.
See
figure
19.
2.
Adjust
the
tie
rod
in
or
out
until
the
wheels
toe-in
approximately
1/8".
3.
Replace
the
tie
rod
into
the
wheel
bracket,
and
replace
the
cotter
pin
and
flat
washer.
