CALIFORNIA EMISSION CONTROL WARRANTY STATEMENT
YOUR WARRANTY RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS
TheCaliforniaAir ResourcesBoardandMTDLLCare pleasedto explaintheevaporativeemissioncontrolsystemwarrantyonyour2006 lawnmower.InCalifornia,
newlawnmowermust bedesigned,builtand equippedtomeetthe State'sstringentanti-smogstandards.MTD LLCmustwarranttheEECS onyour lawn mower
forthe periodof time listedbelowprovidedthere hasbeenno abuse,neglectorimpropermaintenanceof your lawnmower.
YourEECSmayincludepartssuchas thecarburetor,fuel-injectionsystem,the ignitionsystem,catalyticconverter,fueltanks,fuel lines,fuelcaps,valves,
canisters,filters,vaporhoses,clamps,connectors,and otherassociatedemission-relatedcomponents.
Whore a warrantable condition exists, MTDLLCwill repair your lawn mower at no cost to you including diagnosis, parts and labor.
MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY COVERAGE:
Thisevaporativeemissioncontrolsystemiswarrantedfor twoyears.If anyevaporativeemission-relatedpart onyour equipmentis defective,the partwill be
repairedor replacedby MTDLLC.
OWNER'S WARRANTY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Asthe lawn mowerowner,you are responsiblefor performanceof the requiredmaintenancelistedin yourowner'smanual. MTDLLC recommendsthatyou retain
all receiptscoveringmaintenanceonyour lawnmower,but MTDLLCcannotdenywarrantysolelyfor the lackof receipts.
Asthe lawn mowerowner,you shouldhoweverbeawarethat MTDLLC maydenyyouwarrantycoverageif yourlawnmoweror aparthasfaileddueto abuse,
neglect,or impropermaintenanceorunapprovedmodifications.
Youare responsiblefor presentingyourlawn mowerto MTD LLC'sdistributioncenterorservicecenteras soonas the problemexists.Thewarrantyrepairsshould
becompletedin areasonableamountof time, nottoexceed30 days.If youhavea questionregardingyourwarrantycoverage,youshouldcontactthe MTD
ServiceDepartmentat 1-800-800-7310.
GENERAL EMISSIONS WARRANTY COVERAGE:
MTDLLCwarrantsto the ultimatepurchaserandeach subsequentpurchaserthatthe lawnmoweris:Designed,builtandequippedsoas to conformwithall
applicableregulations;andfreefrom defectsin materialsand workmanshipthat causethe failure of a warrantedpart to beidenticalin allmaterialrespectsto that
partas describedin MTDLLC'sapplicationfor certification.
Thewarrantyperiodbeginsonthe datethe lawnmoweris deliveredto anultimatepurchaserorfirst placedintoservice.Thewarranty periodistwoyears.
Subjecttocertainconditionsand exclusionsas statedbelow,the warrantyonemission-relatedpartsisas follows:
1. Anywarrantedpartthat isnot scheduledfor replacementas requiredmaintenanceinthe writteninstructionssupplied,is warrantedfor the warrantyperiod
statedabove.If thepartfails duringthe periodof warrantycoverage,the partwill be repairedor replacedby MTDLLCaccordingto subsection(4) below.Any
suchpartrepairedor replacedunderwarrantywill bewarrantedfor the remainderofthe period.
2. Anywarrantedpartthat isscheduledonlyfor regularinspectioninthe writteninstructionssuppliediswarrantedfor thewarranty periodstatedabove.Anysuch
partrepairedorreplacedunderwarrantywill bewarrantedfor the remainingwarrantyperiod.
3. Anywarrantedpartthat isscheduledfor replacementas requiredmaintenanceinthe writteninstructionssuppliedis warrantedfor the periodoftime before
thefirst scheduledreplacementdate forthat part. Ifthepartfails beforethefirst scheduledreplacement,the part will berepairedor replacedby MTDLLC ac-
cordingto subsection(4) below.Anysuchpart repairedor replacedunderwarrantywill bewarrantedforthe remainderofthe periodpriorto thefirst scheduled
replacementpointfor the part.
4. Repairor replacementofanywarrantedpart underthewarrantyprovisionshereinmustbe performedat a warrantystationat nochargeto theowner.
5. Notwithstandingthe provisionsherein,warrantyservicesor repairswill beprovidedat all ofour distributioncentersthat arefranchisedtoservicethe subject
enginesor equipment.
6. Thelawnmowerownerwillnot bechargedfor diagnosticlaborthat is directlyassociatedwithdiagnosisof a defective,emission-relatedwarrantedpart,
providedthat suchdiagnosticworkis performedata warrantystation.
7. MTDLLC is liablefor damagesto other engineor equipmentcomponentsproximatelycausedbya failureunderwarrantyof anywarrantedpart.
8. Throughoutthe lawnmowerwarrantyperiodstatedabove,MTDLLC willmaintaina supplyof warrantedpartssufficienttomeetthe expecteddemandfor such
parts.
9. Anyreplacementpartmaybe usedinthe performanceof anywarrantymaintenanceor repairsand mustbe providedwithoutchargeto the owner.Suchusewill
not reducethe warrantyobligationsofMTD LLC.
10.Add-onor modifiedpartsthat are notexemptedbythe Air ResourcesBoardmaynot beused.Theuseof anynon-exemptedadd-onor modifiedparts by the
ultimatepurchaserwillbe groundsfor disallowinga warrantyclaims.MTDLLCwill notbe liableto warrantfailuresofwarrantedparts causedby the useofa
non-exemptedadd-onor modifiedpart.
WARRANTED PARTS:
Therepairor replacementofanywarrantedpartotherwiseeligiblefor warrantycoveragemaybeexcludedfromsuchwarrantycoverageif MTDLLCdemonstrates
thatthe lawnmowerhasbeenabused,neglected,or improperlymaintained,andthat suchabuse,neglect,orimpropermaintenancewasthe directcauseofthe
needfor repairor replacementofthe part.That notwithstanding,anyadjustmentofa componentthat hasa factoryinstalled,and properlyoperating,adjustment
limitingdeviceis still eligiblefor warrantycoverage.Thefollowingemissionwarrantypartslist arecovered:Fuel Line,Fuel LineClamps
