If the primer bulb wasn't pressed enough, press it fully and slowly 10 times. If the engine is flooded, squeeze the trigger and pull the starter rope. Old or improperly mixed fuel requires draining the gas tank and adding a fresh fuel mixture. A fouled spark plug should be replaced or cleaned, and a plugged spark arrestor needs cleaning or replacement. Check that the blue EZ-Start lever is in the starting position. If the outside temperature is below 40º F, pull the starter rope up to 10-15 times; if above 90º F, squeeze the throttle control and pull the starter rope.

If the cutting attachment is out of line, refill it with a new line. If the inner reel is bound up, replace it. A dirty cutting head requires cleaning the inner reel and outer spool. For a line welded condition, disassemble, remove the welded section, and rewind. If the line is twisted when refilled, disassemble and rewind it. If not enough line is exposed, push the bump knob and pull out the line until 4 inches (102 mm) of line is outside of the cutting attachment.
