OPERATION
STARTING THE ENGINE
1. Place the engine fuel valve lever (See Figure 8) to the
ON position.

2. Move the throttle lever (See Figure 9) to idle position.

3. Place the choke lever (See Figure 10) in the CLOSED
position if starting a cold engine.

CAUTION
DO NOT attempt to start the engine unless the pump
has previously been primed with water. Severe pump
damage will occur if pump has not been primed.

4. Place the choke lever (See Figure 11) in the OPEN
position if starting a warm engine or the temperature
is warm.

5. Place the engine ON/OFF switch (See Figure 12) in
the ON position.

6. Grasp the starter grip (See Figure 13) and slowly pull
it out. The resistance becomes the hardest at a certain
position, corresponding to the compression point. Pull
the starter grip briskly and smoothly for starting.

7. If the engine has started and the choke lever was
moved to the CLOSED position to start the engine,
gradually move the choke lever to the OPEN position
(Figure 14) as the engine warms up. If the engine has
not started repeat steps 1 through 6.
