Why is the compressor cycling on overload protector in my Murdock A171.8?
    • J
      Joshua HoganAug 10, 2025
If your Murdock Water Dispenser's compressor is cycling on the overload protector, this could be due to a dirty condenser or a blocked fan, which causes high head pressure and frequent cycling of the overload protector. Also, ensure the incoming voltage is within 10% of the Serial Nameplate rating. If these steps don't resolve the issue, the overload or relay might be defective and need to be changed. For restrictions or moisture in the system, contact a certified refrigeration mechanic.

What to do if my Murdock A171.8 has restricted or no water flow?
    • D
      Danny JohnsonAug 15, 2025
If your Murdock Water Dispenser is experiencing restricted or no water flow, start by ensuring the Water Supply Service Stop Valve is fully open and that there is a minimum 20 PSIG (168 kPa) supply line flow pressure. Check for any twists or kinks in the Bubbler Tubing. Also, the Water Inlet Strainer may be blocked with sediment, so clean the screen, and replace it if needed. The Cartridge Valve located in the Water Control assembly or Bubbler can also become clogged with foreign material, and it can only be replaced. Finally, check the flow adjustment. If the issue is related to refrigeration or thermostat failure, a qualified technician should check the water cooler.

Why is the water warm when the compressor runs on my Murdock A171.8 Water Dispenser?
    • L
      Lindsey LongAug 20, 2025
If your Murdock Water Dispenser's compressor is running but the water is warm, it could be due to a loss of refrigerant, which requires a certified refrigerant technician for repairs. Ensure the Condenser Fan Motor is working, and the Fan Blade turns freely to remove heat. An incorrect refrigerant charge, restriction, or defective compressor also indicate a problem within the refrigeration system, requiring inspection by an authorized service company.

How to fix water dripping or not shutting off in my Murdock A171.8 Water Dispenser?
    • K
      Kevin HolderAug 26, 2025
If your Murdock Water Dispenser is dripping water or won't shut off, remove the Pushbutton. Adjust the Flow Regulator to the highest setting using a flat head Screwdriver and turning clockwise. If the water no longer drips, turn the Screwdriver counter-clockwise until you have the desired flow rate, and ensure the Retaining Nut is tightened to the Valve assembly to 25 in-lb torque. If the issue continues, the Flow Regulator Cartridge may need replacement.

Why is my Murdock A171.8 Water Dispenser making so much noise?
    • A
      Anthony KennedyAug 30, 2025
If your Murdock Water Dispenser is operating noisily, first check that the Fan Blade is rotating freely. Ensure the Water Cooler is correctly mounted to the wall, as the absence of the two lower mounting bolts may cause excess noise and vibration. Check the Compressor mounting to ensure the Pins and Clips are not rattling. If the Compressor appears noisy internally, it must be replaced.

How to troubleshoot a Murdock A171.8 Water Dispenser when the compressor does not run?
    • J
      Jonathan JonesSep 4, 2025
If the compressor on your Murdock Water Dispenser does not run, check the Power Supply Cord and the electrical Receptacle for power and correct voltage (within 10% of the rated voltage on the Serial Nameplate). Check for loose wires within the Compressor Box, ensuring the incoming power Leads are connected to the Overload and Relay. If all components check positive for continuity, test the Wiring Harness Plug for continuity to see if there is a broken Wire within the Wiring Harness insulation. If the Capillary Bulb loses its charge or becomes kinked, unplug the Water Cooler and check for continuity across the two electrical Terminals on the Thermostat using an ohm Meter; install a new Thermostat if there is no continuity.
