Why is my Murdock Water Dispenser compressor cycling on overload protector?
    • W
      Walter JacksonAug 10, 2025
The compressor might be cycling due to several reasons. A dirty condenser or a blocked fan can cause high head pressure, leading to frequent cycling. Ensure the condenser is clean and the fan isn't blocked. Also, check the incoming voltage to ensure it's within 10% of the serial nameplate rating. If there's a restriction or moisture in the system, contact a certified refrigeration mechanic. A defective overload or relay may also be the cause, so consider changing those components if necessary.

Why is my Murdock Water Dispenser compressor not running?
    • T
      Thomas BarnesAug 15, 2025
Several factors could prevent the compressor from running. First, verify the electrical supply for power and correct voltage, ensuring it's within 10% of the rated voltage on the serial nameplate. Check for loose wires within the compressor box, ensuring the power leads are connected to the overload and relay. Also, if there's a loss of charge or a kinked capillary bulb, disconnect the electrical supply and use an ohm meter to check continuity across the thermostat terminals; replace the thermostat if there's no continuity. Finally, test the wiring harness plug for continuity to see if there is a broken wire within the wiring harness insulation.

What to do if Murdock Water Dispenser compressor runs but water is warm?
    • K
      Kevin SanchezAug 20, 2025
If the compressor is running but the water isn't cooling, it could be due to a loss of refrigerant, in which case the water chiller must be taken to a certified refrigerant technician. Ensure the condenser fan motor is working, and the fan blade turns freely to help remove heat. Also, incorrect refrigerant charge, restrictions, or a defective compressor could be the cause. If any of these issues are suspected, the water chiller should be checked by an authorized service company.

Why is there restricted or no water flow from my Murdock BF158 Water Dispenser?
    • J
      John JohnsonAug 26, 2025
There might be several reasons for restricted or no water flow. First, ensure the water supply service stop valve is fully open and verify a minimum 20 psig supply line flow pressure. Check for twists or kinks in the outlet tubing. Sediment or installation materials in the strainer can also cause this issue; inspect and clean the water inlet 'Y' strainer regularly. Also check if the flow control in solenoid valve outlet elbow clogged, remove & clean it. A refrigeration problem or thermostat failure could also be the cause, requiring a qualified technician to check the water chiller. Finally, check for no power to transformer connections, loose or cut wires.

How to fix noisy operation of Murdock BF158 Water Dispenser?
    • L
      Laura ShawAug 30, 2025
To address noisy operation, first check that the fan blade is rotating freely. Also, inspect the compressor mounting to ensure the pins and clips are not rattling. If the compressor appears internally noisy, it will need to be replaced.

What to do if light within sensor does not flash on Murdock Water Dispenser?
    • S
      Sarah WhiteSep 4, 2025
If the light within the sensor doesn't flash when a user is in range, verify the 120VAC input and 9VDC output of the transformer. If the transformer is defective, replace it. If the transformer polarity is crossed, replace the transformer, noting that the sensor may also need replacement. Also, the sensor may be in 'Security Mode' after 30 seconds of consistent detection; remove the source of detection and wait 30 seconds before checking. Lastly, the sensor might be picking up a highly reflective surface; eliminate the cause of reflection and wait 30 seconds before checking.
