Smart Restore
English
Smart Restore
Smart Restore is a program that allows you to remove or reinstall the software shipped
with your computer safely, without deleting any other files. With Smart Restore you
can also restore your original hardware configuration, should you have problems with
drivers. A series of tools also allows you to perform checks and maintenance tasks on
your computer to ensure that it runs properly any time you need it.
Starting Smart Restore
1. Save your current work and close all running applications.
2. If applicable, insert the Master CD 1 into its drive.
3. From Windows, click on Start, select Programs, Tools and click on Smart
Restore.
Note: if you chose to be able to restore your configuration from the network, the start
menu shortcut for Smart Restore has been automatically updated. If you had already
removed this shortcut, you can still access SmartRestore via the executable file that
can now be found at the relevant network path.
On the Smart Restore main screen, several tabs are available:
➤ Software (default tab): to remove or reinstall software,
➤ Hardware: to reset your hardware to its original factory settings,
➤ Floppy Disk icon: if your notebook is equipped with a floppy disk drive, insert a
blank floppy and click on this icon to create a Recovery Boot Floppy.
➤ CD icon: to create either one or a set of Master CDs (if your system is equipped
with a CD-RW drive).
➤ Magnifying glass icon: if a Master CD is inserted in your CD-ROM drive, click
on the magnifying glass to perform a Master CD Check.
