Overview

This document serves as a user manual and installation guide for an extractor hood, providing comprehensive information on its operation, maintenance, and safety.

Function Description

The extractor hood is designed for domestic use in kitchen environments to remove cooking fumes, odors, and vapors. It can operate in two primary modes:

  • Exhaust air mode: In this mode, air drawn into the hood is cleaned by grease filters and then expelled to the exterior through a pipe system. This requires proper ventilation to the outside, and the exhaust air should not be conveyed into functioning smoke or exhaust gas flues, or shafts used to ventilate rooms with heat-producing appliances, without the consent of a heating engineer. A telescopic wall box is recommended if the exhaust air is conveyed through an outer wall.
  • Circulating-air mode: Here, the air is cleaned by both grease filters and an activated carbon filter before being recirculated back into the kitchen. This mode is suitable when external venting is not feasible, and an activated carbon filter is essential for odor removal.

The appliance features a fan with multiple speed settings (1-3) and an intensive mode (P) for situations with a large build-up of odors and fumes. The intensive mode automatically reverts to fan setting 3 after approximately 6 minutes. Independent lighting can be switched on and off, separate from the fan operation.

Important Technical Specifications

While specific model numbers are not provided in the general instructions, the manual outlines several technical considerations:

  • Installation Height: The appliance is intended for use up to a maximum height of 2000 meters above sea level.
  • Exhaust Duct Diameter: An inner diameter of 150 mm is recommended for round pipes, with a minimum of 120 mm. For flat ducts, the inner cross-section must correspond to the diameter of round pipes (e.g., 177 cm² for 150 mm, 113 cm² for 120 mm). Flat ducts should avoid sharp deflections.
  • Electrical Connection: The appliance requires a protective contact socket that has been correctly installed. If a fixed connection is needed, an energy-isolating device in the phases must be provided in the permanent electrical installation, which should be wired by a professional electrician. A residual-current circuit breaker (RCCB) in the power supply circuit is recommended. The connecting cable length is approximately 1.30 m. The rating plate, accessible by removing the metal mesh grease filter, contains specific connection information.
  • Weight: The maximum weight of the extractor hood is 40 kg, requiring at least two people for movement and installation.
  • Safety Clearances: When operating with gas and electric hobs, the largest specified clearance for the cooker must be complied with to prevent heat build-up.
  • Partial Vacuum Limit: For safe operation in exhaust air mode with room air-dependent heat-producing appliances, the partial vacuum in the room where the heat-producing appliance is installed must not exceed 4 Pa (0.04 mbar).

Usage Features

  • Control Panel: The control panel includes symbols for fan on/off (①), fan settings (1-3), intensive mode (P), and light on/off ( ).
  • Fan Operation: To switch on the fan, touch the ① symbol. The fan starts at setting 2. Settings 1, 2, or 3 can be selected by touching the corresponding symbol. The intensive mode (P) can be activated for strong fumes and automatically switches back to setting 3 after 6 minutes.
  • Lighting: The lighting can be operated independently of the fan by touching the symbol.
  • Optimal Use: For effective fume removal, it is recommended to switch on the extractor hood at the start of cooking and switch it off several minutes after cooking is finished. Adjusting the fan speed to the intensity of cooking fumes helps save energy; intensive mode should only be used when necessary.

Maintenance Features

  • Grease Filters: The metal mesh grease filters are crucial for cleaning the air and preventing fire hazards from fatty deposits. They should be cleaned regularly, ideally every two months. Cleaning can be done by hand (soaking in hot soapy water, scrubbing with a brush, rinsing, and draining) or in a dishwasher (using normal domestic dishwashing detergents, avoiding heavily soiled cookware, and selecting a temperature of no more than 50 °C). The grease filter holder in the appliance should also be cleaned with a damp cloth. The appliance should never be operated without a grease filter.
  • Activated Carbon Filter: For circulating-air mode, an activated carbon filter must be installed to bind odors. These filters need to be cleaned and replaced at regular intervals to maintain effectiveness and prevent fire risks.
  • General Cleaning:
    • Stainless Steel: Clean with hot soapy water and a dishcloth, then dry with a soft cloth. Clean in the direction of the grain. Special stainless steel cleaning products can be used.
    • Painted Surfaces: Clean with hot soapy water and a damp dishcloth, then dry with a soft cloth. Do not use stainless steel cleaner.
    • Aluminium and Plastic: Clean with hot soapy water and a soft cloth.
    • Glass: Clean with glass cleaner and a soft cloth. Do not use a glass scraper.
    • Controls: Clean with hot soapy water and a damp dishcloth, then dry with a soft cloth. Never clean controls with a wet cloth to avoid damage to electronics. Do not use stainless steel cleaner on controls.
  • Cleaning Agents to Avoid: Harsh or abrasive cleaning agents (scouring powder, liquid scouring cleaner), cleaning products with high alcohol content, hard scouring pads or sponges, pressure washers or steam cleaners, cleaning products that dissolve limescale, aggressive all-purpose cleaning products, and oven spray should not be used.
  • Protective Film: The protective film must be removed from all parts of the appliance before first use to prevent surface damage.
  • LED Lights: Defective LED lights should only be replaced by the manufacturer, customer service, or a qualified technician.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting table for common issues like the appliance not working, lighting not functioning, or button illumination failure, along with possible causes and solutions. For electrical issues or damaged power cables, contact after-sales service.
