HOW TO GET GOOD PHOTOS OUT OF THE CAMERA IN 5 MINUTES xxv
HOW TO HOLD THE CAMERA
Your right hand wraps around the right side of the camera. Place your thumb near the
dial at the top right on the back of the camera. The index finger on your right hand is
used to push the shutter release button, turn the camera on and off, and use nearby
buttons.
To best support the camera place your left hand, palm up, against the bottom of the
camera. Let your left hand support some of the weight of the camera and lens. Have
your fingers reaching out in front of the camera, under the lens. Use your fingers to
make adjustments to the lens such as zooming and manual focusing.
COMPOSING AND FOCUSING
●
Look through the viewfinder to compose your picture. Use your left or
right eye, whichever is more comfortable.
●
If you’re using a zoom lens, turn the zoom ring to make your subject big-
ger or smaller in the viewfinder.
●
Place your subject in the middle of the viewfinder.
●
Press the shutter release button down halfway. This activates autofocus
and the subject in the middle should now appear sharp.
●
Press the shutter release button down the rest of the way to take the
picture.
REVIEWING
Your photo will appear on the back of the camera right after you take the picture. If
the monitor on the back goes dark, just press the button to bring the pictures
back. You can look at other photos you’ve taken by pressing left or right on the multi
selector.
