5. King Pin Installation
• Place shim(s) on top of journal.
• Place knuckle on top of shims, aligning holes.
• Install king pin through top of knuckle and partially into journal. The pin is
installed so the "long" end is down, ensuring proper alignment of set screw
slot and set screw hole.
• Install thrust bearing, aligning so that king pin will pass through it. The
• orientation of the thrust bearing is correct when the sheathed side is up,
and the rotating side is down.
• Gently tap king pin through journal and into bottom of knuckle, taking care
to align slot on king pin with the set screw hole.
