4.3.5 Hydraulic System
Some adjustments to the hydraulic system will require the use of a pressure
gauge. An inexpensive test gauge kit can be readily assembled and adapted
to t almost any part of the hydraulic system by removing a hose and
connecting the gauge in line or directly to a tting. Kits are available from
NMC-Wollard, Inc.
To minimize risk of serious injury or death, follow these
hydraulic servicing precautions:
Follow all necessary lockout/tagout procedures.
• Hydraulic systems have residual, stored pressure. Relieve all pressure
from the hydraulic system before servicing.
• Allow uid to cool before working on system.
• Hydraulic uid escaping under pressure can have sucient force to enter
eyes and penetrate skin. If uid gets in eyes or skin, ush with large
quantities of water and seek medical attention.
• Wear eye protection when servicing hydraulic components or systems.
• Keep all hoses and connections in good serviceable condition. Check
before start-up and periodically during operation.
• Do not investigate for leaks with hands. Use a large piece of cardboard.
4.3.6 Main Relief Valve Pressure
The pressure relief valve is integral with the engine package.
1. Raise platform to safety stop see gure 2-1-1.
2. With engine o, disconnect the pressure hose from hydraulic pump.
3. Connect the test gauge in line and reconnect hose.
4. Remove the hex-head protective cap over relief valve adjusting screw
and loosen locknut.
5. Back adjusting screw all way out (minimum pressure).
6. Start engine. Fully retract stabilizers. While an assistant holds stabilizer
UP/DOWN toggle switch in UP position, gradually
adjust relief valve setting to 1800 PSI.
7. Tighten locknut and replace cap.
8. Stop engine, remove test gauge, and reconnect hose.
4.3.7 Stabilizers Down Relief Valve Adjustment (RV2)
The stabilizer down relief valve is located in the hydraulic valve package.
1. Install test gauge (0-3000 PSI) in pump pressure line, Figure 2.
2. Fully extend stabilizer. Continue holding stabilizer toggle switch in the
DOWN position and note pressure reading on gauge.
3. If pressure exceeds 900 PSI, turn relief adjustment counterclockwise,
see g. 3, until 900 PSI is read on gauge. If pressure is below 900 PSI,
turn relief valve adjustment clockwise until gauge indicates 900 PSI.
