Glossary
ringing tone
The tone that your phone plays (or doesn’t play) when you
have an incoming call.
ringing volume The audible level of your phone’s ringing tones.
roaming
The state of your phone when you are no longer in your
service provider’s network, often resulting in additional
charges.
roller
A multi function key on the front of the phone. Roll the roller
to scroll through your phone’s menu structure and phone
book. Press the roller to make your selection or to access the
phone book or submenu structure.
screen or
display
Your phone’s display.
scroll
To move through a list of names, menu items, and so on, by
rolling the roller up or down. Each new selection or option is
highlighted as you roll to it.
selection keys
The keys under the lower left and right corners of your
phone’s display. These keys are defined by the text above
them, inside the display.
SIM Subscriber Identity Module
slide
The moving keypad cover, used to protect the keypad, as well
as answer and end calls.
SMS
Short Message Service. A service whereby short text
messages (typically around 160 characters) can be sent and
received via your phone.

URL
Universal Resource Locator. A URL is a specific address or
location on the internet (for example,
