This document describes the Nokia RM-325, a wireless device designed for communication and various multimedia functions.
Function Description
The RM-325 is a mobile phone that supports WCDMA 850/2100 and GSM 850/900/1800/1900 networks. It offers core communication features such as making and receiving voice calls, including international calls, and supports call waiting and call divert (network service). The device also includes speed dialling and voice dialling for quick access to contacts. For messaging, it supports text messages, multimedia messages (MMS), Nokia Xpress audio messaging, flash messages, and an e-mail application. Instant messaging and voice/video messages are also available (network services).
Beyond communication, the RM-325 features a 2-megapixel camera for capturing images and recording video clips in 3GP format, with up to 8x digital zoom. It includes a music player that supports MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, and WMA files, allowing users to listen to music tracks, recordings, and video clips. An FM radio is also integrated, requiring a compatible headset as an antenna. The device has an organiser with an alarm clock, calendar, to-do list, notes, calculator, countdown timer, and stopwatch.
Connectivity options include Bluetooth wireless technology (Specification 2.0 + EDR) for connecting to compatible devices and a USB data cable for PC connectivity and data transfer. The phone can function as a modem when connected to a PC. It also supports packet data (GPRS) for internet access and various mobile internet services through its browser, which handles WML and XHTML pages. The device is equipped with a global positioning system (GPS) for location tracking, distance measurement, and route planning, requiring an external Bluetooth GPS receiver and a regional license for voice guidance. SIM services are also available, depending on the SIM card.

Usage Features
- User Interface: Features a Navi™ scroll key, left and right selection keys, and a middle selection key. Menus can be customised with different views (List, Grid, Grid with labels, Tab) and organised.
- Text Input: Supports traditional and predictive text input, with options to change character case and writing language.
- Profiles: Multiple profiles (e.g., General, Silent, Flight) can be activated, personalised with ringing tones, volumes, vibration alerts, and message alert tones, or set to be active for a timed duration.
- Active Standby Mode: Allows quick navigation and access to information.
- Sensor Settings: Enables tap functions for muting/rejecting calls and alarms, and displaying time/indicators on the secondary display.
- Shortcuts: Customizable shortcuts for quick access to functions (e.g., web browser, voice mailbox, video mailbox, profile changes).
- Configuration Settings: The phone can receive and activate configuration settings from a service provider for network services like mobile internet, MMS, and synchronisation. Users can also manually add personal accounts.
- Maps: Browse maps, search for addresses and points of interest, plan routes, save locations as landmarks, and send them to compatible devices. Assisted address search and map downloads are available via network service.
- Software Updates: Supports software updates via Nokia Software Updater PC application or over-the-air (network dependent).
- Fold Mechanism: The phone opens to about 161 degrees by pressing the open fold key. It can be closed manually. The fold can be set to answer calls when opened.
Maintenance Features
- Battery Management: Always switch off the device and disconnect the charger before removing the battery. Avoid short-circuiting, dismantling, or exposing the battery to liquids or extreme temperatures (keep between 15°C and 25°C). Dispose of batteries according to local regulations.
- Authenticity Check: Users are advised to use original Nokia batteries and to check the hologram label for authenticity.
- Care: Keep the device dry, away from dust and dirt, and avoid extreme temperatures. Do not drop, knock, or shake the device. Do not use harsh chemicals or paint. Clean lenses with a soft, dry cloth.

- Factory Settings Restore: Options to restore only preference settings or to restore all settings and delete all personal data (contacts, messages, media files, activation keys).
- Cache Management: Users can clear browser cache to protect confidential information.
- Digital Rights Management (DRM) Backup: For OMA DRM-protected content, use Nokia PC Suite's backup feature to save activation keys and content to prevent loss if the device memory is formatted or files corrupted.
