Function Description

The NordicTrack Commercial 14.9 elliptical provides an impressive selection of features to enhance home workouts. It allows users to engage in various exercise programs, track their progress, and adjust workout intensity. The console features wireless technology to connect to iFIT, offering access to a large workout library, custom workout creation, and workout result tracking. Users can also utilize onboard workouts that automatically control pedal resistance and ramp incline.

Power: The elliptical requires a nominal 120-volt circuit and must be properly grounded to prevent electric shock. A temporary adapter can be used if a grounded outlet is not available, but a proper outlet should be installed by a qualified electrician.

Workout Modes:

- Featured Workouts: Access to a changing selection of iFIT workouts, which can be saved as favorites. Requires an iFIT account and wireless network connection.
- Onboard Workouts: Pre-programmed workouts that automatically adjust resistance and incline.
- Draw-Your-Own-Map Workouts: Users can create custom routes on a map, which the elliptical will simulate by adjusting incline and resistance.
Adjustments:
- Resistance and Incline: Can be adjusted manually or automatically during workouts.
- Pedal Positions: Each pedal can be adjusted to several positions by pulling the pedal handle outward, moving the pedal, and releasing the handle into an adjustment hole. Both pedals should be set to the same position.
- Fan: The console includes a fan with multiple speed settings, including an auto mode that adjusts fan speed based on pedaling speed.
- Volume: Audio volume can be adjusted on the console.
Tablet Holder: An optional tablet holder is available to securely hold most full-size tablets during exercise.
Movement: The elliptical requires two persons to move. One person holds the upright and places a foot against a wheel, while the second person lifts the handle until the elliptical rolls on its wheels.
Leveling: Leveling feet beneath the rear stabilizer and under the center of the frame can be adjusted to eliminate rocking motion.
Exercise Guidelines: The manual provides guidelines for exercise intensity (fat burning and aerobic exercise zones based on heart rate), warm-up, training zone exercise, cooling down, and exercise frequency.

Maintenance Features

Regular Maintenance: Important for optimal performance and to reduce wear. All parts should be inspected and tightened regularly. Worn parts should be replaced with manufacturer-supplied parts immediately.
Cleaning: Use a damp cloth and mild soap to clean the elliptical. Avoid liquids on the console and keep it out of direct sunlight to prevent damage.
Console Troubleshooting:
- No Power: Ensure the power cord is fully plugged in, the power switch is in the reset position, and exterior wires are correctly connected.
- Freezing/No Response: If the console does not boot properly or freezes, it can be reset to factory default settings. This requires two people: one to press and hold a reset button (located in a small opening on the back/side of the console with a bent paper clip) while the other plugs in the power cord and presses the power switch.
- Firmware Updates: Regularly check for and install firmware updates via the wireless network. Do not turn off the power during updates.
Incline System Troubleshooting: If the ramp does not move correctly, the incline system may need calibration through the console settings.
Reed Switch Adjustment: If the console displays incorrect feedback, the reed switch may need adjustment. This involves unplugging the power cord, prying off the left disc, aligning a magnet with the reed switch, loosening screws, and sliding the reed switch closer to or away from the magnet until correct feedback is displayed.
Drive Belt Adjustment: If pedals slip, the drive belt may need adjustment. This involves unplugging the power cord, removing the access cover, and tightening the drive belt adjustment screw until the drive belt is tight.
