Overview

The NORIS SG2000 Servo Controller is a device designed for controlling hydraulic proportional valves that utilize two solenoids and operate without position control. It is intended for mounting within electrical cabinets or terminal boxes, secured by four screws directly to the mounting plate.

Function Description

The SG2000 controller operates with a 24V DC power supply connected to terminals 13 and 14. Its primary function is to convert an input setting value into a proportional current, which is then fed to the corresponding proportional solenoid. The direction of the current depends on the polarity of the input signal.

The input signal for the SG2000 is a +/-10V DC setting value. Additionally, an enable signal is required, which can be either a dry contact (normally open) or a +24V signal, provided at terminal 7.

The control of the solenoids is achieved through a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) signal. A "jitter frequency" is overlaid onto the output current. This jitter frequency is crucial for preventing the pistons of the valves from sticking or "gluing," ensuring smooth and reliable operation.

The output current is measured and controlled internally. The calibration of the output current is performed by the manufacturer. Depending on the polarity of the input signal, only the corresponding amplifier for the specific solenoid is activated.

The device also provides measuring outputs for both the setting current and the actual current. These outputs are presented as a 0-10V voltage at terminals 5 and 6, allowing for external monitoring and diagnostics of the desired and actual current levels.

Usage Features

The SG2000 features several Signal-LEDs to provide immediate status feedback:

  • LED 1 (Green): Indicates no failure, signifying normal operation.
  • LED 2 (Red): Indicates a control loop fault.
  • LED 3 (Red): Indicates that the voltage is too low.
  • LED 4 (Green): Indicates that the auxiliary voltage is OK.
  • LED 5 (Yellow): Indicates current limitation is active.

A "Failure" output is provided as a dry contact (normally closed) and is activated in the event of:

  • Power supply voltage being too low.
  • Auxiliary supply +15V not being present.
  • A failure in the control loop (e.g., short circuit or wire break).

For solenoid systems with a 3-pole connection, it is important to use terminal 11 or 12 (+24V supply) as the common terminal. The current sensing for the solenoids is located behind terminals 9 and 10, and this connection must always be kept separate.

Maintenance Features

The SG2000 is designed for robust operation with integrated protection features such as overvoltage and reverse supply protection, contributing to its reliability and reducing the need for frequent maintenance. The LED indicators provide quick diagnostic information, allowing operators to identify the nature of any operational issues (e.g., power fault, loop fault, current limitation) at a glance. The failure output signal can be integrated into an alarm system, enabling remote monitoring and prompt response to critical conditions.

The device's robust steel casing and IP00 degree of protection indicate it is suitable for industrial environments, though care should be taken regarding exposure to dust and moisture given the IP00 rating. The use of standard 2.5 mm² terminals for electrical connections simplifies wiring and potential troubleshooting.

Regular checks of the power supply voltage and the integrity of the control loop are recommended to ensure optimal performance. The measuring outputs for setting and actual current (0-10V) can be used for detailed diagnostics and performance monitoring, aiding in preventive maintenance and system optimization.

The SG2000 is a compact and essential component for precise hydraulic control, offering clear status indications and robust design for demanding applications.
