Before Each Use – Work Site Selection and Set-up
Step Two: Work site selection and log splitter setup
It is important to select an appropriate work site and properly set up the log splitter in order to
minimize the risk of slips and falls, equipment rolling or tipping over, and accidental fires.
Select an appropriate location for operating the log splitter.
Requirements:
1. Dry-level surface with good footing. Stay clear of areas with mud, ice, tall grass, weeds,
brush, or snow.
Take the following precautions against fire:
1. Keeps a fire extinguisher rated “ABC” nearby as a precautionary measure when operating
the log splitter in dry areas. Keep it properly charged and be familiar with its use.
3. Lock jack and
outrigger leg
DOWN
Lock both the jack and outrigger leg in the DOWN position.
Block the wheels to prevent unintended movement of the log splitter.
Apply grease into grease zerks located under both keepers.
Plug charger into battery or battery box (if battery is already installed in battery box, if not
see step 4 in operation section to install). See charger manual for more detail.
ONLY USE NorthStar Charger item #5050015. Using other chargers may result in fire
and/or bursting (explosion).
Do not charge the battery during operation. This can damage the battery.
