MagicBall®
USER MANUAL
Congratulations on your acquisition of the
MagicBall®, the revolutionary new ball and
socket head. Whilst you should have no di-
culty in using your MagicBall®, you may find
the following explanations useful.
Product description
The MagicBall® is available in three sizes (MB MINI, MB50 and MB) and provides an
unbelievable positioning range of 120° in virtually any plane. All three models are easy to
handle and compatible with practically any tripod (1/4” and 3/8” connection). Part of the
secret is the large, grippy point-and-fix handle. The handle is used to position the MagicBall
exactly, then a simple twist fixes it firmly in place. The outstanding design and use of only
the finest materials blocks any vibration transfer. The knurled wheel makes for simple and
safe camera mounting.

The MagicBall® can be perfectly com-
bined with a quick release unit such as
the NOVOFLEX MiniConnect or the
Q=BASE. The two coupling systems
provide a fast and secure connection
between the camera equipment and
the ball head.
While the NOVOFLEX Q-system is
consistently integrated into the widely
used ARCA Swiss standard, the Mini-
Connect is small and inconspicous, but
with an untraceable holding force.

Mounting and Operation

Mounting on a Tripod

Mount the MagicBall® on any tripod using its 1/4” or 3/8” thread after removing the stepping insert.

Mounting and Dismounting Camera

Mount the camera by using the 1/4” screw and tighten counter-clockwise. Loosen by turning clockwise.

Ball Head Operation

Lock positions with the locking grip. Use the friction control knob to adjust head movement for safe operation.

Practical Tips and Maintenance

Preventing Overturning

Release the locking grip only when the mounted equipment is held at the same time to prevent sudden overturning.

Load Capacity

The MagicBall® can carry its maximum load firmly in any position, with specific capacities for MB MINI, MB 50, and MB models.

Advanced Mounting Techniques

For heavy equipment, tighten the knurled ring fully, then turn the device opposite until it stops for a strong connection.

Tripod Thread Compatibility

The knurled ring has a 1/4” screw. A 3/8” thread requires an over-thread or factory conversion.

Friction Adjustment

Adjust friction control knob based on camera weight; heavier equipment requires more tightening.

Ball Maintenance

The ball works lubricant-free; avoid oil or grease. Keep the ball clean from sand and dust with a dry cloth.

Grip Enhancement

The MB (large model) locking grip can use a supplied rubber sleeve for a more comfortable grip.

Orientation Change

Loosen the knurled ring, turn the camera 90°, and retighten to change from landscape to portrait mode.

Optional Accessories

Panorama Base

Use a panorama base like the NOVOFLEX PANORAMA II for landscape/portrait changes, leveling, and angle targeting.

Panning Grip MB-GRIFF

Replace the standard locking grip with the MB-GRIFF for easier handling and smoother panning with long telephoto lenses.
