Overview

This document describes the eUP 2, an electrically height-adjustable desk frame designed for non-domestic premises, compliant with European Standards and Guidelines (EN 15372:2017). It is a 2-step, 2-segment T-leg base on a telescopic frame, allowing for a sit-to-stand work desk configuration.

Function Description:

The eUP 2 desk frame provides an electrically adjustable height mechanism, enabling users to switch between sitting and standing positions. This functionality is intended to promote ergonomic working conditions and reduce the health risks associated with prolonged sitting. The desk is operated via a hand switch, which controls the upward and downward movement of the tabletop. The system includes a control unit that manages the electrical components and ensures smooth operation. The design allows for a stroke (maximum adjustment range) of 50 cm, accommodating a wide range of user preferences and ergonomic requirements. The desk frame is designed to support a maximum load of 80.0 kg, making it suitable for various office equipment and materials.

Usage Features:

The eUP 2 desk is designed for ease of use, promoting ergonomic working postures.

  • First Use/Reset Mode: Upon initial setup or after a power interruption, the desk may need to be reset. This typically involves pressing and holding the "UP" and "DOWN" buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds until the desk moves slightly upward, then releasing. Subsequently, pressing and holding the "DOWN" button until the lowest position is reached and the desk stops for 2 seconds, followed by a slight upward release, completes the initialization.
  • Ergonomic Guidance: The manual provides guidelines for ergonomic sitting and standing positions, including recommendations for chair height, monitor placement, keyboard, and mouse positioning. Users are advised to adjust the desk height so that forearms are horizontal, upper arms are vertical, and feet are flat on the floor. When standing, the desk should be at elbow height, with shoulders relaxed.
  • Safety Precautions: Users are warned not to exceed the maximum load of 80 kg and to avoid leaving children unsupervised with the workstation due to potential hazards. The maximum continuous operation time is 1 minute on / 9 minutes off (10% duty cycle) to prevent overheating. In case of unusual sounds, smoke, or other malfunctions, the desk should be immediately stopped and repaired by specialists. If the height adjustment activates without user intervention, the immediate surroundings should be evacuated, and the desk should not be operated until repaired.
  • Cable Management: Cable clips and screws are provided to secure loose or dangling cables underneath the tabletop, ensuring a tidy workspace and preventing interference with the desk's movement. It is crucial to ensure that the power cord can follow the HAT movement unhindered.
  • Assembly: The assembly process requires two people. The feet, top frame, tabletop, and electrical components are installed sequentially. Special attention should be paid to arrow orientations on components and ensuring screws are not fully tightened until the tabletop is mounted to allow for width adjustment. The control unit should be mounted on the side away from the hand switch to maximize legroom. The hand switch can be mounted on either the left or right side.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of the eUP 2 desk.

  • Cleaning: The desk should be dusted once a week with a dry cloth. For more thorough cleaning, a damp cloth with a mild detergent can be used, followed by drying with a clean cloth.
  • Upkeep: The manufacturer recommends having the HAT checked by specialized employees on a regular basis (at least once a year). Users should not perform any repairs on the desk themselves, nor alter the construction of the work surface or the frame. Any faulty components must be replaced with new, original components from the manufacturer.
  • Noise Level: The noise level during height adjustment is less than 42 dB (A), which is comparable to a quiet office environment.
  • Residual Risks: Despite safety measures, some residual risks remain, such as pinching or crushing injuries if body parts are caught between moving parts. Users should be aware of these risks and operate the desk carefully.
  • Safekeeping of Manual: The operating and installation instructions are an integral part of the table and should be kept near the desk for future reference. If the table is passed on to third parties, the manual must be included. An electronic version (PDF) is available from customer service.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual includes a troubleshooting guide for common issues such as the height adjustment not working, which may be due to defective cables/connectors, a faulty up-down switch, or an error in the power supply. For problems not listed, customer service should be contacted.
  • Disposal: At the end of its life cycle, the desk frame should be decommissioned by pulling the power plug. Disassembly should follow the manual in reverse order. All parts should be separated by material type and disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner, adhering to national regulations and directives.
