6–1 Replacing the
Anti-Retraction Valve
A water Anti-Retraction Valve is integrated in the coupling,
which shuts off the water retraction directly at the
handpiece head to prevent fluids infiltrating the water line.
If water leaks from the tip of the handpiece even after the
handpiece operation is stopped, replace the Anti-Retraction
Valve.
CAUTION
• To prevent infection, clean and sterilize a coupling
before replacing the Anti-Retraction Valve. After
replacement, clean and sterilize the coupling again.
1 Remove the hose side gasket (1) (Fig. 26).
2 Pull out the Anti-Retraction Valve (2) by holding the
water tube section of the anti-retraction valve (Fig. 26).
3 Insert the new Anti-Retraction Valve (1) securely and
remount the gasket (2) (Fig. 27).
* Refer to Accessories and Spare Parts List to identify
the correct parts.
