1.0 Safety Information
IMPORTANT: Installation or replacement of units or spare parts must be carried out by a qualified
or Nuaire approved service engineer/ electrician and in accordance with IEE or local national wiring
regulations.
2.0 Introduction
The Nuaire XS Ceiling Fan Kit is available in 6, 9 and 12 inch impeller
sizes suitable for supply or extract and can be the heart of a room’s
automatic ventilation system.
Ensure adequate air replacement for the fan and any fuel burning
appliance in the room.
2.1 Switching
Operated via a separately wired 3 amp fused spur (by others) or
operated via the optional XS-MFC remote controller allowing supply or
extract, variable speed and automatic or manual switching of several
fans if desired.
2.2 Sensors
Sensors are available as remote units or integral ‘plug in’ units. They
are able to control multiple fans, depending on sensor and fan types.
Integral sensors are quick and easy to install and are aesthetically
pleasing, whilst remote sensors give the benefit of location close to
the pollutant source. Remote sensors can be fitted with an optional
security strap to prevent unwanted tampering.
2.3 General
The removable interior grille provides easy access while the external
rotor motor makes for simple removal of the push-on impeller for
cleaning. Upward angled interior grille vanes shield workings from view.
The fan is IP24 splash proof approved with the motor rated at IP44.
Fan casing, impeller and shutter shall be manufactured from UV
stabilised ABS polymer. All models shall include an economy /high
efficiency setting facility and are dove grey in colour.

The Nuaire XS Ceiling Fan Kit is a versatile ventilation solution designed for both supply and extract applications, suitable for integration into a room's automatic ventilation system. These units are available in 6, 9, and 12-inch impeller sizes, offering flexibility for various room sizes and ventilation requirements.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Nuaire XS Ceiling Fan Kit is to provide efficient air movement within a space, either by supplying fresh air or extracting stale air. The system is designed for ceiling installation and can be controlled in several ways:

• On/Off Switching: Basic operation via a separately wired 3 amp fused spur.
• Remote Controller (XS-MFC): An optional remote controller allows for more advanced control, including supply or extract modes, variable speed adjustment, and automatic or manual switching of multiple fans.
• Integral Sensors: The fan kits can be fitted with integral sensors (Humidity, Air Quality, Passive Infra-Red, Temperature, Run-on Timer) for automated operation based on environmental conditions.
• Remote Sensors: External remote sensors (Humidity, Air Quality, Passive Infra-Red) can be wired in parallel to an XS-MFC controller, offering flexible placement closer to pollutant sources.

The fan's design incorporates an automatic shutter mechanism to prevent backdraft when not in operation. The removable interior grille provides easy access for maintenance, and the external rotor motor facilitates simple impeller removal for cleaning. Upward-angled interior grille vanes help shield the internal workings from view, contributing to a cleaner aesthetic.

Usage Features:

• Complete Package: Ceiling Fan Kits are supplied as a complete package with all necessary installation parts.
• Multi-Fan Control:
  • Up to 5 fans (6"/9") can be controlled by one XS-MFC.
  • Up to 2 fans (12") can be controlled by one XS-MFC.
  • It is important not to mix different fan sizes on the same controller.
  • When multiple fans are used in the same room and operating mode, they should all be controlled from the same MFC speed control to prevent stalling.
• Aesthetic Design: Upward-angled interior grille vanes and a dove grey finish contribute to a discreet appearance.
• Safety: The system includes a short delay (approximately 40 seconds) on start-up and shutdown for shutter operation, which is normal. An RCD and fused spur (1A for 1 fan, 2A for 2 or 3 fans) are recommended for safety.
• Ancillaries:
  • Single Spigot Adaptor: Used with flexible ducting systems, mounted onto the spacer section or directly to a Roof Terminal. Replaces the internal grille.
  • Flexible Ducting and Installation Accessories: A full range is available from Nuaire.

Maintenance Features:

• Easy Access for Cleaning: The removable interior grille and push-on impeller design allow for simple cleaning of dirt and encrustation from the grille(s), fan impeller, and motor casing.
• Regular Inspection: Periodically (at least once a year, or more frequently with heavy use), inspect the fan impeller to ensure it is not cracked or deformed and rotates freely without oscillation.
• Shutter Maintenance: Automatic shutters and motor bearings should be frequently inspected and maintained to ensure full and satisfactory operation.
• Cleaning Restrictions: Do not use any solvents to clean the product.
• Replacement Parts: In case of breakdown, units should be adequately packaged and returned to Nuaire after obtaining a returns number.
• Warranty: A 3-year warranty is provided, covering parts and labour for the first year, and replacement parts only for the remaining period. The warranty is void if the equipment is modified without authorisation, incorrectly applied, misused, disassembled, or not installed, commissioned, and maintained according to the manual and good practice. Installation or replacement must be carried out by a qualified or Nuaire approved service engineer/electrician.
