What to do if O.S. engine starts but revolutions decrease and engine eventually stops?
    • T
      Tyler SchultzAug 15, 2025
If the O.S. engine starts but the revolutions decrease, and it eventually stops, ensure the fuel tank is filled. Also, inspect the fuel tubing for any kinks or splits. Finally, verify that the carburetor is not clogged with dirt.

Why does O.S. engine start then revolutions increase and engine cuts out?
    • M
      Margaret NelsonAug 18, 2025
If the O.S. engine starts and then revolutions increase until it cuts out, it might be due to a mixture that is too rich. Try closing the needle-valve a little to adjust the mixture.

What to do if O.S. engine fails to fire because it is flooded?
    • M
      Maria BanksAug 21, 2025
If the O.S. engine fails to fire due to being 'flooded' from excessive priming, fully close the needle-valve and remove the glowplug. Then, flip the propeller to pump out the excess fuel. If possible, invert the engine while pumping out the excess fuel.

Why does O.S. engine fire intermittently but not run?
    • O
      Oscar SmithAug 25, 2025
If the O.S. engine fires intermittently but does not run, it could be due to a mismatch between the glow plug and the fuel. Consider changing either the fuel or the glowplug to resolve this issue.

How to fix O.S. engine that fails to fire because of burned out glowplug?
    • B
      Brandy RobersonAug 27, 2025
If the O.S. engine fails to fire, and you suspect the glowplug element is burned out, replace the glowplug. Ensure that the applied voltage is not excessively high to prevent future burnouts.

What to do if O.S. engine fails to fire and the glowplug battery is discharged?
    • M
      melanie84Aug 31, 2025
If the O.S. engine fails to fire, and you suspect the glowplug battery is discharged, recharge the lead-acid cell or replace the dry battery. Keep in mind that an unused or almost unused dry battery may sometimes be of insufficient capacity if it is 'old stock'.

Why does O.S. engine fire once or twice, then fail to fire?
    • R
      Robert PetersonSep 2, 2025
If the O.S. engine fires once or twice, then fails to fire, re-check and readjust the voltage, referring to the 'BEFORE' section.
