What to do if O.S. engine fires intermittently but does not run?
    • M
      Mindy SnyderAug 6, 2025
If your O.S. engine fires intermittently but doesn't run, several factors could be at play. Make sure there's enough fuel in the tank by filling it up. A deteriorated glowplug could also be the culprit, so consider replacing it. Check for a clogged fuel filter or a dirty air cleaner and silencer; if necessary, clean or replace the fuel filter, replace the cleaner element, and clean inside the silencer. Ensure the engine hasn't overheated; if it has, wait for it to cool down. Also, check the clutch release and adjust the tension of the clutch spring if it's incorrect. Make sure you aren't disconnecting the starting battery too soon; wait until the RPM becomes stable. Finally, vibration causing air bubbles in the fuel can be a problem; install O-rings to the tank screws to prevent bubbles.

Why is my O.S. engine not reaching expected peak r.p.m.?
    • D
      Darlene WestAug 11, 2025
If your O.S. engine isn't reaching the expected peak RPM, it could be due to insufficient warming up or running-in. Ensure you set the needle only after warming up and complete the running-in process. Also, check that the silencer or manifold is securely connected; replace the seal ring and secure any loose connections. A split or broken fuel tubing from the tank can also cause this issue, so replace the tubing if necessary.

How to fix unstable idle on O.S. engine?
    • W
      walkerkellyAug 16, 2025
To fix an unstable idle on your O.S. engine, first ensure you're using the suggested glowplug as indicated in the instructions. Avoid using unsuitable fuel with extremely high nitro or low oil content. If you have an extremely light flywheel, add a suitable load. Finally, check that the silencer is securely installed; if it's disconnected or has play, install it securely.

What causes poor response in O.S. engine?
    • M
      marygrossAug 21, 2025
Poor response in your O.S. engine can stem from several causes. A deteriorated glowplug is a common culprit, so consider replacing it. Incorrect carburetor settings can also lead to poor response; readjust the low RPM range using the metering needle and mixture control valve. Additionally, check the transmitter setting, as an incorrect setting of the transmitter exponential function can cause this issue. Finally, ensure the linkage is correct and that the throttle servo does not interfere with the servo linkage.

How to improve poor r.p.m. drop in O.S. engine?
    • Z
      Zachary GarciaAug 27, 2025
To improve poor RPM drop in your O.S. engine, check the throttle position. If it's open too far, close the metering needle to an adequate position to lower the idle RPM. Ensure the carburetor is fully seated; if not, install it securely. Also, check the metering needle; if it's closed too far, open it a little.

What to do if my O.S. engine fails to fire?
    • J
      Jonathan ThompsonOct 31, 2025
If your O.S. engine fails to fire, several issues could be the cause. First, ensure that the fuel tank is adequately filled and that fuel is reaching the engine; if not, fill the tank and repeat the priming procedure. Check the glowplug element for burnout and the glowplug battery for sufficient charge; replace the glowplug or recharge the battery as needed. A clogged fuel filter or dirty air cleaner and silencer can also prevent firing; clean or replace the fuel filter, replace the cleaner element, and clean inside the silencer. If you've over-primed the engine, remove the glowplug and pump out any excess fuel. Also, make sure the fuel tubing is connected securely and is free from kinks, splits, or holes. Incorrect servo linkage or a reverse rotating direction of the starter box can also ...
