What to do if O.S. engine fires intermittently but does not run?

  If your O.S. engine fires intermittently but doesn't run, several factors could be at play. Make sure there's enough fuel in the tank by filling it up. A deteriorated glowplug could also be the culprit, so consider replacing it. Check for a clogged fuel filter or a dirty air cleaner and silencer; if necessary, clean or replace the fuel filter, replace the cleaner element, and clean inside the silencer. Ensure the engine hasn't overheated; if it has, wait for it to cool down. Also, check the clutch release and adjust the tension of the clutch spring if it's incorrect. Make sure you aren't disconnecting the starting battery too soon; wait until the RPM becomes stable. Finally, vibration causing air bubbles in the fuel can be a problem; install O-rings to the tank screws to prevent bubbles.

Why is my O.S. engine not reaching expected peak r.p.m.?

  If your O.S. engine isn't reaching the expected peak RPM, it could be due to insufficient warming up or running-in. Ensure you set the needle only after warming up and complete the running-in process. Also, check that the silencer or manifold is securely connected; replace the seal ring and secure any loose connections. A split or broken fuel tubing from the tank can also cause this issue, so replace the tubing if necessary.

  To fix an unstable idle on your O.S. engine, first ensure you're using the suggested glowplug as indicated in the instructions. Avoid using unsuitable fuel with extremely high nitro or low oil content. If you have an extremely light flywheel, add a suitable load. Finally, check that the silencer is securely installed; if it's disconnected or has play, install it securely.
