Unclear image  Soiled glass surfaces
 The glass surfaces have been
damaged during sterilisation
 The glass surfaces have been
mechanically damaged
 Ophthalmoscopy loupe is
touching the eye
 Dry patient cornea
 Clean the glass surfaces
 Change the sterilisation
method, replace lenses if
necessary
 Greater care in use and
storage of lenses; replace if
necessary
 Choose the correct work
distance, clean the loupe
 Moisten the cornea regularly
with a suitable solution
Unfocussed image  Incorrect adjustment of the

 A reduction lens is not being
