The Use of the Self-Timer

With the camera facing you, lift up on the
self-timer lever, and turn it counter-clockwise (as
indicated).
Press the shutter release to start the self-
timer. The shutter will fire in 12 seconds. (After
use, be sure to return the lever to the normal posi-
tion.)
