What to do if my Olympus EVOLT E-500 does not turn on?
    • C
      Christopher ReynoldsAug 19, 2025
If your Olympus digital camera isn't turning on, first ensure the power switch is set to ON. If it's in sleep mode, press the shutter button halfway. A drained battery could also be the culprit; charge it or replace lithium batteries with new ones. If the battery is cold, warm it in your pocket. Lastly, the camera won't operate when connected to a PC, unless using the optional OLYMPUS Studio software in [CONTROL] mode.
  • G
    Glen GarrettAug 21, 2025
Why is my Olympus EVOLT E-500 picture too dark?
    • C
      Christine LarsenAug 21, 2025
If your Olympus digital camera pictures are too dark, it could be due to a small, backlit subject; try spot metering or using the flash. If there's something bright in the center, adjust the exposure towards plus (+). In A (M) mode, a high aperture value can darken the image, so decrease it. Similarly, in S (M) mode, reduce the shutter speed.
  • K
    Kevin TurnerAug 23, 2025
Why is my Olympus digital camera picture too bright?
    • C
      Caleb RichardsonAug 23, 2025
If your Olympus digital camera pictures are too bright, it may be due to something dark in the image center; adjust the exposure toward minus (-). A high ISO setting can also cause this; set it to auto or 100. In A (M) mode, a low aperture value can overexpose the image, so increase it. Also, in S (M) mode increase the shutter speed.
  • Y

Why no picture is taken when I press the shutter button on my Olympus EVOLT E-500?
    • L
      Lauren GoodmanAug 26, 2025
If your Olympus digital camera isn't taking pictures when you press the shutter, it could be due to a drained battery; charge or replace it. If the subject is hard to focus on, use manual focus or focus lock. If the camera's memory is full during sequential shooting, no pictures can be taken. Also, wait for the flash to finish charging (the # mark stops blinking). A full card will also prevent picture-taking; erase unwanted images or insert a new card. If the battery dies during shooting, charge it and wait for the card access lamp to stop blinking. Finally, there may be a problem with the card; refer to the error messages.

How to fix out of focus picture on Olympus digital camera?
    • C
      Cassandra OconnellAug 28, 2025
If your Olympus digital camera pictures are out of focus, it could be because the subject is too close; move back to the closest focusing distance. If subjects are generally hard to focus on, use manual focus or focus lock. For dark subjects, set [AF ILLUMINATOR] to [ON] and raise the flash. Also, condensation in the lens or viewfinder can cause focus issues; turn off the camera and wait for it to dry.
  • S
    Steven RothAug 30, 2025
Why Olympus digital camera turning the power off does not reset the stored settings?
    • T
      Taylor ChurchAug 30, 2025
To reset stored settings on your Olympus digital camera when turning it off, set [CUSTOM RESET SETTING] to [RESET], then turn off the camera.
  • J
    John FloresSep 1, 2025
Why is the monitor hard to see on my Olympus EVOLT E-500?
    • A
      Alexis GarciaSep 1, 2025
If the monitor on your Olympus digital camera is hard to see, adjust the brightness of the monitor using the menu. If the monitor is exposed to direct sunlight, block the sunlight with your hand. Ensure the power switch is set to ON. If the USB driver wasn't successfully installed, install the OLYMPUS Master. If the camera is in the [CONTROL] mode, set [USB MODE] to [AUTO] or [STORAGE].
  • J
    Jeremy BlackSep 3, 2025
Why is the top left part of the picture appears too bright on my Olympus EVOLT E-500 Digital Camera?
    • A
      Amanda CruzSep 3, 2025
If the top left part of the picture appears too bright on your Olympus digital camera, it may be due to noise generated at slow shutter speeds because of a rise in temperature in the CCD drive circuit. Set [NOISE REDUCTION] to [ON] before taking pictures.
  • W
    William GarciaSep 6, 2025
Why Olympus digital camera colors of pictures taken indoors look unnatural?
    • M
      Megan AlexanderSep 6, 2025
If the colors in your Olympus digital camera's indoor pictures look unnatural, it is probably because the indoor lighting is affecting the picture's colors. Set the appropriate white balance for the lighting. More natural-looking colors can be reproduced with the one-touch white balance. It could also be that the white balance setting is wrong, set the appropriate white balance for the lighting again.
  • R
    Ryan ValenciaSep 8, 2025
Why is my Olympus EVOLT E-500 viewfinder display not clear?
    • M
      Melissa MillerSep 8, 2025
If your Olympus digital camera's viewfinder display isn't clear, it could be that the diopter isn't adjusted; adjust it until the AF frame is clearly visible. Alternatively, there might be condensation in the lens or viewfinder; turn off the camera and wait until it dries.
