Usually, the stage plates
are
used
w~th the frosted white slde facing
the
oblective. However, if the specimen
IS
wh~te or br~ghtly colored, use
the
black
side
of the plate
as
the darkened background Increases image
contrast.

remove the stage plates, press down the supporting
end
of the
plate
w~th
a
fingertip,
and the other end
will
flip up. (Fig.

one
focus~ng knob w~th the other focusing
knob
tightened,
by
holdlng
both
knobs, In order to increase or
decrease
the rotation tension,
depend~ng on the turning dlrect~on. (Fig.

tenslon at
a
level slightly st~ffer than that to ensure no
unintentronal movement and facilitate easy operation.
