Measurement scales
Specific sections/general information3
Using the telemetric scale
Example: calculate the distance between
your position and an event producing
light and sound simultaneously (e.g.
a storm).
The chronograph is set off by the detec-
tion of light, for example a lightning
strike. Then it stops on detection of the
sound, the clap of thunder. Here, the
storm is 9.9 km away.

Reading the chronograph minute counter
(Seamaster Diver 300M, ETNZ 2015)
Example: counting down the time before
the start of a regatta.
3H counter:
The inside timer displays the minutes of
the chronograph using the white part of
the Regatta needle.
The outside timer displays the 5-minute
countdown before the start of the regatta.
The chronograph is started at the first horn blast, 5 minutes before
the start of the regatta, to allow the yachtsman to position his boat
closer to the starting line.
