This document is an instruction manual for the Omega 60cm Slide-Out Rangehood, model ORT6WXA. It provides comprehensive information on installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting for the appliance.
Function Description:
The Omega ORT6WXA is a 60cm slide-out rangehood designed to extract cooking vapours and odours from the kitchen. It can be configured for either ducted venting, where exhaust fumes are expelled outside the room, or recirculating venting, where air is filtered and returned to the room. The slide-out design allows for a discreet appearance when not in use, and it extends to provide effective extraction during cooking. The rangehood features integrated lighting to illuminate the cooking surface.

Usage Features:
The rangehood is operated via controls located on the bottom front of the unit.
- Light Controls: A dedicated switch (Switch 1) allows users to turn the integrated LED lights on (I) or off (0), providing illumination for the cooking area.
- Speed Adjustment: A separate switch (Switch 2) controls the fan speed, offering three levels from low (I) to high (III), and an off (0) position. This allows users to adjust the extraction power according to their cooking needs.
- Slide-Out Operation: The rangehood features a slide-out mechanism. It is recommended to fully extend the slide-out portion when the rangehood is in use to ensure optimal performance.
- Pre-Cooking Operation: It is recommended to operate the rangehood prior to cooking to establish air circulation.
- Post-Cooking Operation: To effectively eliminate cooking vapours and odours, it is recommended to leave the rangehood in operation for 15 minutes after cooking has finished.
- Venting Options: The rangehood supports both ducted and recirculating venting. Users can adjust internal venting switches between the fans to select the desired mode. For recirculating mode, carbon filters must be fitted to the fan inlets, and the vent cover at the front of the rangehood should be removed.
Maintenance Features:
Regular maintenance is crucial for the rangehood's efficiency and safety.
- Cleaning:
- The surface of the cooker hood should be cleaned regularly with a cloth moistened with denatured alcohol or a non-abrasive liquid detergent. A build-up of grease and fat can pose a fire hazard if not cleaned regularly.
- The metal mesh filters must be cleaned regularly (every 4-6 weeks, depending on usage frequency) to maintain efficiency and prevent grease build-up. They can be cleaned with warm soapy water or a cloth.
- Filter Maintenance: The filter mesh is made of metal and requires regular cleaning.
- Lamp Replacement:
- The rangehood uses 2 x 2W LED lamps (GU-10 type).
- To replace a lamp, the filter needs to be opened, and the lamp face twisted anti-clockwise to disengage it.
- Always ensure the appliance is unplugged from the power source and the lamps are cool before attempting replacement.
- Safety Precautions for Maintenance: Before any cleaning or maintenance, the rangehood must be turned off at the power point.
- Professional Service: If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, an authorised service centre, or similarly qualified persons to avoid hazards. For issues like motor failure or persistent problems, contacting the Service Department is advised.
