WATCH FUNCTIONS
The crown has 3 positions:
1. Normal position (wearing position): when the crown is positioned against the
case, the crown ensures that the watch is water-resistant.
Occasional winding: if the watch has not been worn for 60 hours or more, wind it
up with the crown in position 1.
2. Setting the time zone and correcting the date: pull the crown out to position
2. Turn the crown forwards or backwards, and the hour hand will move forwards or
backwards by 1-hour intervals. By passing the hour hand over midnight, the date
can be changed forwards or backwards. Push the crown back to position 1.
NB: when changing the time zone backwards, it is necessary to move the hour
hand back past 7 pm to ensure the date changes.
3. Time setting: hours – minutes – seconds. Pull the crown out to position 3. The
seconds hand will stop. Turn the crown forwards or backwards. Synchronise the
seconds by pushing the crown back to position 1 to coincide with a given time
signal.

Overview

This document describes the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M Co-Axial 42 MM watch, focusing on its functions, usage, and maintenance features.

The watch is equipped with a crown that serves multiple purposes, accessible through three distinct positions. In its normal position, when pressed against the case, the crown ensures the watch's water resistance. This is also the position for occasional winding. If the watch has not been worn for 60 hours or more, it can be wound by turning the crown in this position.

The second crown position is dedicated to setting the time zone and correcting the date. Pulling the crown out to this position allows the user to adjust the hour hand forwards or backwards in 1-hour intervals by turning the crown. The date can be changed forwards or backwards by passing the hour hand over midnight. An important note for changing the time zone backwards is that the hour hand must be moved back past 7 PM to ensure the date changes correctly. After adjustment, the crown should be pushed back to position 1.

The third crown position is for precise time setting, including hours, minutes, and seconds. When the crown is pulled out to this position, the seconds hand stops, allowing for accurate synchronization. The user can turn the crown forwards or backwards to set the desired time. To synchronize the seconds, the crown is pushed back to position 1 to coincide with a given time signal.

A notable feature of this watch is the Helium Escape Valve, designed for professional divers. In its normal, screwed-down position, the valve is perfectly watertight due to its gaskets but is not functional. During the decompression phase, the crown of the valve is unscrewed to release the internal mechanism. At this point, the valve becomes watertight from the outside. As the internal pressure within the watch exceeds the external pressure, a gasket is pushed out of its seating, allowing the trapped gas to escape. Once the pressures equalize, the gasket returns to its original position, pushed by a spring. This process repeats automatically multiple times during decompression. Once atmospheric pressure is reached, the crown of the valve should be screwed down again. It is strongly recommended to keep the valve screwed down when the watch is immersed in water, even though it maintains water resistance to a certain degree when unscrewed. Full water resistance to the dial depth is only achieved with the valve in the screwed-down position, with its gaskets properly sealed.

The watch also features a foldover clasp for secure wearing. To open the clasp, the user presses two pushers located on either side of the Omega buckle and pulls upwards. To close the clasp, the watch is placed on the wrist, and the clasp is pushed down with the thumb until a click is heard, indicating it is securely fastened.

For adjusting the length of the bracelet, the user needs to free the longer section from two slideways and a catch. The bracelet can then be adjusted in the desired direction and reinserted into the catch and slideways. After adjustment, the user should try on the watch to check the fit and readjust if necessary. These features collectively contribute to the functionality, durability, and user-friendliness of the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean watch.
