DAYBREAK TIMER
QUICK START GUIDE
All of us from Orbit
®
would like to thank you for choosing the Daybreak
timer. You have made a smart decision and we are sure that you are going
to love this product! Your timer has two unique ways to be set:
USING THE DAYBREAK SIDE
Choose to water Every Day or Every 2 Days in 5, 15, 30, or 60 minute
increments. Once this side is selected the timer will automatically turn
on at sunrise. This will help you water during the most optimal time of
day to water.
HELPFUL HINT: Watering at sunrise helps avoid creating an
environment susceptible to fungus and bacteria and reduces water
waste as a result from evaporation.
USING THE SET TIME SIDE
Choose to water Every Day or Every 2 Days in 5, 15, 30, or 60 minute
increments. The timer will note the exact time at which you set it and will
water at this same time until you change the timer settings by turning the
dial. Choose this side to select your preferred watering time.
EXAMPLE: If you set your timer at 7:08 am to water every day,
then your water will turn on at 7:08 am each morning
going forward.
USING ON/OFF
Using ON or OFF will reset the timer and you will need to rotate
the dial back to DAYBREAK or SET TIME to start automatic watering
again. DAYBREAK will water as normal. SET TIME will water at the
new set time.
Choose ON to manually water at the faucet. Choose OFF to stop using
the timer.

Orbit Daybreak Timer Warnings and Precautions

Overview

The Orbit Daybreak Timer is a watering timer designed to automate garden irrigation with two distinct setting modes: Daybreak and Set Time. This device aims to simplify watering routines and promote efficient water usage.

Function Description:

The Daybreak Timer allows users to schedule watering either at sunrise (Daybreak mode) or at a specific set time (Set Time mode). It offers flexible watering frequencies (Every Day or Every 2 Days) and durations (5, 15, 30, or 60 minutes). The timer is designed for outdoor use with cold water only and is not intended for use with appliances.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Pressure Operating Range: 10-100 PSI
  • Temperature Operating Range: 35-120°F (0-48°C)
  • Battery Requirement: 2 AA batteries (sold separately)
  • Battery Compatibility: Do not mix Alkaline, Standard (Carbon-Zinc), or Rechargeable (Nickel Cadmium) batteries.

Usage Features:

Daybreak Mode:

  • Automatic Sunrise Activation: When this mode is selected, the timer automatically turns on at sunrise. This feature is beneficial for optimal watering, as watering at sunrise helps prevent the development of fungus and bacteria, and reduces water waste due to evaporation.
  • Watering Frequency: Users can choose to water "Every Day" or "Every 2 Days."
  • Watering Duration: Available in increments of 5, 15, 30, or 60 minutes.

Set Time Mode:

  • Specific Time Activation: In this mode, the timer records the exact time it is set and will activate watering at that same time daily until the settings are changed. This allows users to choose their preferred watering time.
  • Watering Frequency: Users can choose to water "Every Day" or "Every 2 Days."
  • Watering Duration: Available in increments of 5, 15, 30, or 60 minutes.
  • Example: If the timer is set at 7:08 AM to water every day, it will turn on at 7:08 AM each morning.

ON/OFF Functionality:

  • Resetting the Timer: Using the ON or OFF setting will reset the timer. To resume automatic watering, the dial must be rotated back to either DAYBREAK or SET TIME.
  • Manual Watering (ON): Selecting ON allows for manual watering directly from the faucet.
  • Stopping the Timer (OFF): Selecting OFF stops the timer from operating.

Light Indicator:

  • Setting Confirmation: The light indicator flashes green when dial settings are being changed. Resting the dial in a position for three seconds confirms the selection, and the light will then display as a solid green.
  • Low Battery Alert: The light will flash red when the batteries are low and need to be replaced.

Maintenance Features:

  • Filter: The timer includes a filter that traps dirt particles, which helps prolong the life of the timer. Regular cleaning and replacement of the filter (if worn) are recommended.
  • Battery Management:
    • Used or dead batteries must be removed from the timer and disposed of properly.
    • Batteries should not be disposed of in fire, as they may explode or leak.
  • Freeze Protection: When freezing temperatures are expected, timers should be removed from the hose faucet and stored indoors to prevent potential freeze damage.

Helpful Hints:

  • Watering at sunrise helps avoid creating an environment susceptible to fungus and bacteria and reduces water waste from evaporation.
  • Watering too little each day can lead to shallow grass roots.
  • Overwatering can reduce oxygen supply to the lawn and cause stress to the grass.
