What to do if the red charging indicator is not lit on my Oreck MODEL AV-701B?

If the red charging indicator on your Oreck Vacuum Cleaner isn't lit during charging, ensure the adapter plug and socket are properly connected. Also, both the hand held unit and the stick broom need to be turned off while charging. Try removing the adapter from the charging socket, charging the battery again, or separating the hand held unit from the stick broom. Make sure both switches on the hand held unit and the stick broom are in the off position. Clean the power brush, push the reset button and turn it on again. Take the hand held unit off and locate the four (4) silver prongs on the bottom of the unit. If the prongs are not clean, wipe them with a dry cloth. A new battery may be required.
