The OSD NERO MAX12 is a Wi-Fi multiroom amplifier designed for audio distribution across multiple zones. It is a functional, easy-to-install, highly compatible, and expandable system that offers user-friendly control.
Function Description:
The NERO MAX12 features a 6x6 audio matrix switch with six bridgeable zones and six source inputs. It is expandable to 12 or 18 zones by connecting up to three units. Control of the system is possible via the OSD Control App (available for iOS and Android, duplicating keypad functions), optional keypads with IR remote control, or RS-232.
The amplifier includes an integrated Wi-Fi adapter and an Ethernet port for network connectivity. It offers six individual zone status outputs (3.5mm) for controlling external zone devices (12V triggers) and six IR emitter outputs (3.5mm mono RCA) plus one IR emitter/blaster (3.5mm mono) for all outputs, allowing control of selected sources. A PA input jack (12Vdc trigger) sets all zones to Source 1 for global announcements. An external Mute In/Control Out (3.5mm mono RCA connections/12Vdc) allows temporary muting of the system via a relay closure switch from a home automation or phone system. Automatic Gain Control (AGC) brings low input levels up to a preset level. The unit also features a Unit ID Selector Switch for Master/Slave 1/Slave 2 configurations in expandable setups and a Multi Voltage Selector (115V or 230V) with an AC input connection and fuse receptacle (CE Certified).

- Dimensions: 16.9"W x 3.5"H x 16.4"D
- Weight: 25lbs
Usage Features:
- Power ON/OFF Switch: Located on the front panel.
- Standby/Zone ON LED: Blue indicates standby or zone off, white indicates zone on.
- Stereo Line-Level Pre-Amp Outputs: Three outputs (Zones 1-3) for connecting additional amplifiers, expanding zones, or connecting a powered subwoofer. These levels are controllable via IR, RS232, optional keypads, and Wi-Fi.
- Mode Switch: Allows selection between Stereo or Bridge mode for each zone. An 8 Ohm speaker can only be used in Bridge mode.
- Speaker Outputs: Supports 4-8 Ohm speakers. Can drive a single 4-ohm pair or two pairs of 8-ohm speakers per zone.
- Source Inputs: Six stereo line-level L&R RCA analog source inputs. Input 1 can be used as a global input for all zones when 12VDC is applied to the PA-IN jack.
- RS232 Port: For serial data transfer between devices.
- Expansion IN/OUT Port: Connects up to three units for multi-zone expansion.
- Voltage Selector: For 115V (US) or 230V operation.
- AC Input: Power connection.
- Keypad Hub Input: For connecting optional keypads.
- Optional Keypad Control: Features a numeric LED display, IR receiver target, selection and status LEDs, power/status button (press and hold for ON/OFF, press to toggle settings), volume/treble/bass increase/decrease, and source select. Keypads are POE enabled and connect via Cat5e/6 cable to a hub, then to the amp. Dip switches on the keypad PCB board set the zone it controls.
- Remote Control: Provides power ON/OFF for a zone, mute, L/R balance adjustment, volume adjustment, source selection, treble adjustment, and bass adjustment for individual zones.
- IR Emitters: Route IR signals from keypads back to the amplifier to control selected source devices (e.g., DVD player). Only the selected source for a zone can be controlled, preventing accidental control of other sources.
- Cascading Sources: Up to 18 zones can be distributed across three units using provided ribbon cables. Units are addressed as Master, Slave 1, and Slave 2 via a switch. Ribbon cables connect the OUTPUT of the Master unit to the INPUT of Slave 1, and from Slave 1's OUTPUT to Slave 2's INPUT.
- Integrated Wi-Fi Adapter: Allows wireless control via the OSD Control App on iOS or Android devices. The device must be on the same wireless network as the amplifier.
- Ethernet Connection: RJ-45 jack for connecting to a local Wi-Fi router for Wi-Fi control via app or other control devices. Configuration involves connecting to the amplifier's Wi-Fi (SSID: LINK, Password: 12345678), accessing its configuration webpage (http://192.168.16.254), setting "AP Client" and applying, then connecting the amplifier to the router via Ethernet. The amplifier's IP address can be found via the router's web configuration page or using "Advanced_IP_Scanner" software.
Maintenance Features:
- Safety Precautions: Read all instructions, retain them for future reference, heed warnings, and follow operating instructions. Avoid water and moisture exposure.
- Installation: Install in a well-ventilated environment, ensuring vents are not blocked. Avoid installing above or below heat sources. Use good quality cabling. The unit can be rack-mounted using provided ears.
- Wiring: Strip speaker wire insulation by ¼", twist copper strands, and connect to screw-down terminals. Recommended 12-14 AWG stranded copper speaker wire for better quality.
- Warranty: Two-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Proof of purchase required. OSD Audio will replace defective parts or correct workmanship defects. Damage from excessive power voids the warranty. For repairs, an RMA number is required, and the unit must be shipped at the owner's expense, packed securely. Warranty does not cover abuse, accident, misuse, negligence, improper operation, alterations, modifications, or removed/defaced serial numbers. Normal wear and maintenance are also not covered.
