IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to
reducetheriskofre,electricshock,and/orinjurytopersonsincludingthefollowing:
1. Read all instructions.
2. Donottouchhotsurfaces.Usehandlesorknobs.
3. To protect against electric shock, do not place or immerse cord, plugs, or appliance
in water or other liquid. Avoid spilling water on the connector.
4. This appliance is not intended for use by children or by persons with reduced
physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge. Close
supervision is necessary when any appliance is used near children. Children should
be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. Keep the appliance
and its cord out of reach of children.
5. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
6. Unplugfromoutletwheneithertheapplianceordisplayclock(ifprovided)isnot
in use, and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and
before cleaning the appliance.
7. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance
malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to an
AuthorizedServiceCenterforexamination,repairoradjustment.Donotattemptto
replace or splice a damaged cord.
8. The use of an accessory not recommended by the appliance manufacturer for use
withthisappliancemayresultinre,electricshockorinjurytopersons.
9. Do not use outdoors.
10. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
11. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
12. Alwaysattachplugtoappliancerst,thenplugcordintothewalloutlet(for
appliances with detachable cords). To disconnect, turn any control to the off position,
then remove plug from wall outlet.
13. Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
14. All lids should be closed during use.
15. Scalding may occur if the lid is removed or brew basket door is opened during or
immediately after the brewing cycles. Contents may be hot. Allow to cool before
opening the lid.
16. Theheatingbaseandheatingelementissubjecttoresidualheatfollowingabrewing
cycle. Do not touch heating base or heating element immediately after a brewing
cycle. Allow to cool before handling.
17. Do not place the appliance in a cabinet when in use.
For models capable of using sealed capsules
18. WARNING:Toavoidtheriskofinjury,neveropenordisengagethebrewchamber
during the brew cycle.
19. The sharp needles on the top lid and bottom of capsule holder used to puncture
thecapsulesmaycauseinjury.Keephandsawayfromthesharpneedlesanduse
caution while using, cleaning, or handling the capsule holder.
20. Onlyusecapsulesintendedforthisappliance.Ifthecapsuledoesnott,donotforce
the capsule into the appliance.
