Overview

This document describes the Ozito PXC 18V Brushless Lawn Mower, a cordless electric lawnmower designed for DIY use.

Function Description

The Ozito PXC 18V Brushless Lawn Mower is a battery-powered device used for cutting grass. It operates using an 18V brushless motor, offering efficient and quiet performance. The mower is designed for ease of use with features like adjustable cutting heights and a grass catcher for convenient collection of clippings. Its cordless design provides freedom of movement without the restriction of power cords. The brushless motor technology contributes to a longer tool life and improved power efficiency compared to brushed motors.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Input: 18V
  • Cutting Diameter: 300mm
  • Cutting Heights: 30, 50 & 70mm (3 positions)
  • No Load Speed: 3,300/min
  • Grass Catcher Capacity: 25 litres
  • Tool Weight: 10.9kg
  • Battery Compatibility: Compatible with all Ozito PXC Range 18V Lithium Ion batteries and chargers. For best performance, 3.0Ah batteries and above are recommended.
  • Warranty: 5-year replacement warranty for the product, 36-month warranty for Lithium Ion batteries and chargers. Consumable parts like wheels, blades, cord clips, and bearings are excluded from the warranty.
  • Sound Power Level: 92 dB (LWA)
  • Ingress Protection: IPX1 (protection from water spray)

Usage Features

  • Assembly: The mower requires assembly of the lower and upper handles, secured with handle securing knobs and fasteners. The grass catcher also needs to be assembled from two halves and then fitted to the mower.
  • Battery and Safety Key: The mower is powered by an 18V PXC Lithium Ion battery. To operate, the battery is inserted into the battery compartment, and a safety key must be inserted. The safety key should always be removed when the mower is not in use or during maintenance to prevent accidental startup.
  • Switching On/Off: The mower features a dual-action switch to prevent accidental startup. To start, the lock-off button must be pressed and held, then the start/stop lever pulled towards the handle. Releasing the start/stop lever stops the mower.
  • Adjusting Cutting Height: The cutting height can be adjusted to 30mm (lowest), 50mm, or 70mm (highest) by repositioning the wheel axles on the underside of the mower housing. The mower must be placed on its side to perform this adjustment. It is crucial to ensure all wheels are set to the same cutting height position.
  • Grass Catcher: The 25-litre grass catcher collects clippings. It is fitted by lifting the catcher flap and guiding the catcher onto the mower hooks. To remove, the flap is lifted, and the catcher is pulled out. The catcher should only be fitted or removed when the mower is switched off and the motor has stopped.
  • Mowing Tips: For optimal results, it is recommended to clear the lawn of debris before mowing. Mowing should start at the edge of the lawn, overlapping each pass. For long grass, it's advisable to cut at the highest setting first, then to the desired height to avoid overloading the motor. Mowing in straight lines is recommended for optimum grass collection.
  • Run Time: The operating time is influenced by grass density, moisture, height, and walking speed. Frequent starting and stopping can reduce run time. Using higher capacity PXC batteries (Ah) can extend operating time.
  • Safety Precautions: Always wear sturdy, non-slip footwear, long trousers, safety glasses, and hearing protection. Never use the equipment barefoot or in sandals. Do not mow in poor visibility conditions, in the rain, or when grass is wet. Keep bystanders, especially children and pets, away from the mowing area. Be aware of the rotating blade and avoid placing hands or feet near it. Always remove the safety key and battery before any maintenance or adjustments.

Maintenance Features

  • Blade Maintenance: The metal blade should be replaced after 50 hours of mowing or every 2 years, whichever comes sooner. If the blade is cracked or damaged, it must be replaced immediately. When removing or fitting the blade, always use gloves due to sharp edges. A piece of timber can assist in holding the blade while loosening or tightening the blade bolt. The tightening torque for the blade screw should be approximately 25 Nm. Only genuine Ozito replacement blades should be used.
  • General Maintenance: Keep all nuts, bolts, and screws tight. Regularly check the grass catcher for wear or deterioration. Replace worn or damaged parts for safety. Be careful to avoid finger entrapment between the blade and fixed parts during adjustments.
  • Cleaning: When not in use, store the mower in a dry, frost-free location, out of reach of children. Clean the mower housing with a moist soft cloth and brush only; do not use solvents.
  • Battery Protection System: The tool is equipped with a battery protection system that cuts off power if the tool is overloaded or if the battery capacity becomes low. If overloaded, release the start/stop lever, remove the safety key and batteries, clear the cause of overload, then reinsert and restart. If battery capacity is low, recharge the battery pack.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues such as the mower not starting (possible clogging, low battery, incorrect safety key insertion), hard to push (low cutting height, blunt blade, clogging), motor stopping while cutting (low cutting height, no battery power), poor grass catching (low cutting height, wet grass), and vibrating mower (bent or damaged blade). Solutions typically involve checking for obstructions, charging the battery, adjusting cutting height, or replacing the blade.
  • Spare Parts: Spare parts can be ordered from the Special Orders Desk at Bunnings Warehouse or by contacting Ozito Customer Service.
