If the brake on your Paccar Winch Chain Hoists won't hold after lifting a load, it could be due to excessive system back pressure acting on the brake release port. Install a pressure gauge at the lowering port of the hydraulic motor and monitor the pressure in neutral and haul-in positions. Alternatively, the friction brake may not hold due to worn or damaged brake discs, requiring disassembly of the winch for inspection and replacement. Lastly, a slipping brake clutch could be the issue, necessitating replacement of brake parts and refilling the reservoir with recommended hydraulic oil.
