The camera always tries to make very image appear to be a
neutral grey colour. When it sees this large expanse of bright
sky it will generally underexpose the image causing any
subject to become silhouetted.
The iA+ mode has the facility to be able to correct for this if
you recognise this before taking the image.
You can use the image brightness adjustment control to
change the image captured.
Moving the adjustment towards +3 makes the resulting
images brighter and towards -3 makes it darker
