Overview

This document serves as the Owner's Manual for the Panasonic Digital Wireless Stereo Headphones, Model No. RB-M700B. It provides comprehensive instructions for safe operation, setup, usage, and maintenance of the device.

The Panasonic RB-M700B headphones are designed for wireless audio playback and communication via Bluetooth® technology. They offer a range of features for an enhanced listening experience, including noise cancelling and a unique Bass Reactor function. The headphones are equipped with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, providing portability and extended use.

Function Description

The RB-M700B headphones primarily function as a digital wireless stereo headset. They connect to Bluetooth®-enabled devices, such as smartphones, tablets, and computers, to stream audio and facilitate hands-free phone calls. The core functionalities include:

  • Wireless Audio Playback: Users can listen to music, podcasts, and other audio content wirelessly from their connected Bluetooth® device. The headphones support A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) for audio transmission and AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile) for remote control operations.
  • Hands-Free Calling: When paired with a Bluetooth®-enabled phone supporting HSP (Headset Profile) or HFP (Hands-Free Profile), the headphones allow users to make and receive phone calls. An integrated microphone enables two-way communication.
  • Noise Cancelling: This feature actively reduces ambient noise, providing a clearer and more immersive listening experience. The noise cancelling function can be toggled on/off via a dedicated switch.
  • Bass Reactor: A distinctive feature that amplifies bass frequencies and transfers vibrations directly to the headphones, offering a powerful and immersive audio experience. The strength level of the Bass Reactor can be adjusted.
  • Voice Assistant Activation: The headphones can activate voice functions like Siri on a connected smartphone or similar device, allowing for voice commands and interactions.
  • Wired Use: Even when the battery is depleted or the power is off, the headphones can be used as standard wired headphones by connecting the supplied detachable cord to the audio input terminal. When used in wired mode with power on, the Bass Reactor function is still available, though volume adjustment is not possible through the headphones themselves.

Usage Features

The RB-M700B headphones are designed for intuitive and convenient use, offering several features to enhance the user experience:

  • Power On/Off: The headphones are turned on by pressing and holding the [] button for approximately 3 seconds until the power/pairing LED blinks blue. To turn off, the same button is held for about 3 seconds, accompanied by an English guidance message.
  • Bluetooth® Pairing and Connection: The pairing process involves pressing and holding the [] button in the power-off state until the power/pairing LED blinks alternately in blue and red, indicating standby for registration. The headphones can pair with up to 9 Bluetooth® devices. Subsequent connections to paired devices are often automatic after powering on.
  • Remote Control for Music: Users can control playback (play/pause), adjust volume (increase/decrease), skip to the next track, and return to the start of the current track using the [+] and [-] buttons on the right ear cup.
  • Call Management: Incoming calls can be answered by pressing the [] button. To reject a call, the [] button is pressed twice quickly. Calls can be ended by pressing the [] button.
  • Bass Reactor Adjustment: The Bass Reactor strength level can be adjusted (Off, Low, Middle, High) using the [BASS +] and [BASS –] buttons. The setting is retained even after the power is turned off.
  • Audio Guidance: The unit provides audio notifications for actions like power on/off, Bluetooth® connection status, and setting changes. The language of these guidance messages can be switched between English and French by pressing and holding the [-] and [] buttons simultaneously for at least 5 seconds.
  • Battery Level Notification: The power/pairing LED indicates charging status (red during charging, off when full). When the battery is low, the LED blinks red, and a beep sounds every minute. An English guidance message will announce when the battery is critically low or depleted.
  • Auto Power Off: If the headphones are not connected to a Bluetooth® device, they will automatically power off after approximately 5 minutes of inactivity, accompanied by an English guidance message. This feature is inactive when noise cancelling is ON or when the detachable cord is connected.
  • Reset Function: In case of operational issues, the unit can be reset by connecting it to a computer using the USB charging cord. This cancels all current operations but does not delete pairing information.
  • Factory Reset: To restore all settings to their original factory defaults and delete all registered device information, the unit must be turned off, then the [] button held for at least 5 seconds until the power/pairing LED lights alternately in blue and red. While the LED is in this state, pressing and holding [+] and [-] simultaneously for at least 5 seconds will initiate the factory reset.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of the RB-M700B headphones:

  • Cleaning: The unit should be cleaned with a dry and soft cloth. Solvents such as benzine, thinner, alcohol, kitchen detergent, or chemical wipers should not be used, as they can deform the exterior case or remove the coating.
  • Battery Performance: To maintain battery performance during long periods of disuse, the unit should be fully charged once every 6 months.
  • Charging Environment: The battery should be charged in a room temperature between 10 °C and 35 °C (50 °F and 95 °F). Charging may stop or not be performed outside this range.
  • USB Charging Cord: Only the supplied USB charging cord should be used for charging to prevent malfunction.
  • Detachable Cord Care: If noise occurs when using the detachable cord, the plug should be cleaned with a soft dry cloth to remove any dirt. Only the supplied detachable cord should be used.
  • Battery Disposal: When disposing of the unit, the installed lithium-ion battery should be removed and recycled according to local regulations. The manual provides instructions for safely removing the battery by detaching the left ear pad, unscrewing the speaker plate, and cutting the wires. The terminals of used batteries should be insulated with adhesive tape. Batteries should not be heated, exposed to flame, or left in direct sunlight. In case of electrolyte leakage, consult a dealer and wash any affected body parts thoroughly with water.
