2-2. Shield for Horizontal Exhaust Discharge
It is necessary to install an air-discharge chamber (eld supply)
to direct exhaust from the fan horizontally if it is difcult to
provide a minimum space of 2 m between the air-discharge
outlet and a nearby obstacle.
CAUTION
In regions with heavy snowfall, the
outdoor unit should be provided with a
solid, raised platform and snow-proof
vents.
AVOID
DO
Without snow-proof vents
(Without platform)
With snow-proof vents
(High platform)
Fallen
snow
2-3. Installing the Outdoor Unit in Heavy Snow Areas
In locations where wind-blown snow can be a problem, snow-
proof vents should be tted to the unit and direct exposure to
the wind should be avoided as much as possible.
The following problems may occur if proper countermeasures
are not taken:
● The fan in the outdoor unit may stop running, causing the
unit to be damaged.
● There may be no air flow.
● The tubing may freeze and burst.
● The condenser pressure may drop because of strong wind,
and the indoor unit may freeze.
2-4. Precautions When Installing in Heavy Snow
Areas
a) The platform should be higher than the maximum snow
depth.
b) The 2 anchoring feet of the outdoor unit should be used for
the platform, and the platform should be installed beneath
the air-intake side of the outdoor unit.
c) The platform foundation must be solid and the unit must be
secured with anchor bolts.
d) When installing on a roof subject to strong wind,
countermeasures must be taken to prevent the unit from
being overturned.
