Overview

This document describes the Panasonic OLED TV, models TX-55MZ2000B and TX-65MZ2000B. It provides detailed instructions on its operation, features, and maintenance, ensuring users can maximize their viewing experience.

Function Description

The Panasonic OLED TV is a high-definition television that offers a superior viewing experience with its OLED panel. It supports various digital and analogue broadcast systems, including DVB-T/T2, DVB-C, DVB-S/S2, PAL, and NTSC. The TV is equipped with multiple HDMI inputs, supporting 4K resolution, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), NVIDIA® G-SYNC® Compatible, AMD FreeSync™ Premium, Deep Colour, and x.v.Colour™. HDMI 2 also supports eARC/ARC for enhanced audio return.

A key feature of this TV is the "Space Tune" function, which automatically adjusts sound quality based on the TV's position and the viewer's location. This is achieved using line array speakers and upward-firing speakers that reflect sound from the ceiling, creating a three-dimensional acoustic space. The "Space Tune" function can be set automatically using a voice control microphone to measure and analyze a test tone, or manually via "Preset Adjustment" by entering the TV's installation environment.

The TV also incorporates built-in wireless LAN (IEEE802.11a/n/ac for 5 GHz band and IEEE802.11b/g/n for 2.4 GHz band) and Bluetooth® wireless technology (Bluetooth® 5.0 for 2.4 GHz band), enabling seamless network connectivity and the use of Bluetooth® devices such as headphones and audio systems. It supports various security protocols for wireless networks, including WPA3-SAE, WPA2-PSK, WPA-PSK, and WEP.

Voice control is a significant feature, allowing users to operate the TV by speaking into the remote control's microphone. This enables functions such as changing channels, adjusting volume, searching for programs, and browsing the internet. The remote control can communicate with the TV via either Bluetooth® wireless technology or infrared, with Bluetooth® being necessary for voice controls.

The TV includes a Common Interface slot for CI Plus modules, allowing access to encrypted channels. It also has USB ports (one USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0) for connecting external devices, including USB HDDs for recording.

Usage Features

First Time Auto Setup: When the TV is turned on for the first time, it guides the user through an automatic setup process to search for available TV channels and configure initial settings. This includes selecting the country, viewing environment (Home or Shop), and setting up network connections. Users can choose between satellite, DVB-C, or other signal modes and initiate "Space Tune Adjustment."

Remote Control: The supplied remote control can be registered (paired) with the TV via Bluetooth® for voice control functionality. If pairing fails or is not desired, the remote control operates via infrared. The remote control features dedicated buttons for streaming services (Netflix, Rakuten TV, Prime Video, Disney+, YouTube, Freeview Play), input mode selection, TV Guide, menu navigation, volume, channel control, and a dedicated [HELP] button for accessing the built-in operating instructions.

Remote Control Mode Setting: If multiple Panasonic TVs are in close proximity, the remote control mode can be changed to avoid simultaneous operation. This ensures that each TV responds only to its designated remote control.

Connecting Devices: The TV offers various connection terminals:

  • AV Input: For connecting DVD recorders, Blu-ray recorders, cable TV boxes, and other AV devices using composite video and audio cables.
  • HDMI Inputs: Four HDMI ports are available for connecting 4K/HDR compatible equipment. Users can select different HDMI Auto Settings (Mode1, Mode2, Mode3) to optimize image reproduction based on the connected equipment's capabilities.
  • USB Ports: For connecting USB HDDs for recording and other USB devices.
  • Digital Audio Output: For connecting external audio systems via PCM or Dolby Audio (fibre optic).
  • Headphones / Subwoofer: A 3.5 mm stereo mini jack allows connection of headphones or a subwoofer, with output settings configurable in the Sound menu.

Built-in Operating Instructions (eHELP): The TV features a comprehensive built-in help system accessible via the [HELP] button on the remote control. This system provides detailed instructions on various functions, troubleshooting, and specifications, allowing users to find answers to their questions directly on the TV screen.

Image Retention Prevention: To prevent image retention on the OLED panel, the TV incorporates several features:

  • Screen saver activation (OLED logo moves) or on-screen message movement if no signals or operations are detected for a few minutes.
  • [Logo Luminance Control] setting to [Max].
  • Automatic dimming of the screen when a motionless image is displayed, with brightness returning to normal when active content is shown.
  • Regular panel maintenance, which automatically runs when the TV is turned off.

Maintenance Features

Regular Care:

  • Display Panel, Cabinet, Pedestal: Gently wipe surfaces with a soft cloth to remove dirt or fingerprints. For stubborn dirt, a soft cloth dampened with clean water or diluted neutral detergent (1 part detergent to 100 parts water) can be used. It is crucial to wring the cloth firmly to prevent liquid from entering the TV and to avoid using hard cloths or rubbing too hard, which can cause scratches. Avoid insect repellent, solvent, thinner, or other volatile substances, as these can degrade surface quality or peel paint. The display panel is specially treated and can be easily damaged, so avoid tapping or scratching it with fingernails or hard objects. Also, prevent rubber or PVC substances from prolonged contact with the cabinet and pedestal to avoid surface degradation.
  • Mains Plug: Wipe the mains plug with a dry cloth at regular intervals to prevent fire or electrical shock caused by moisture and dust.

Panel Maintenance: The TV automatically performs panel maintenance when turned off, taking approximately 10 minutes. During this process, the LED indicator turns orange. It is important to avoid touching or exerting pressure on the screen during maintenance.

Troubleshooting: The manual provides a "FAQs" section to help users resolve common issues such as the TV not switching on, remote control not working, or unusual image display. It also suggests checking connections, battery status, and specific settings. The TV includes a built-in "TV Self Test" to diagnose picture and sound problems.

Safety Precautions: The manual emphasizes safety, advising users to:

  • Never remove covers or modify the TV.
  • Avoid exposing the TV to rain, excessive moisture, or liquids.
  • Do not insert foreign objects into air vents.
  • Use approved pedestals/mounting equipment and ensure secure installation.
  • Handle the TV carefully to prevent damage.
  • Ensure proper ventilation by maintaining at least 10 cm space around the TV.
  • Disconnect all cables before moving the TV and ensure at least two people move it.
  • Remove the mains plug when the TV is not in use for a prolonged period.
  • Avoid excessive headphone volume.
  • Keep remote control batteries out of reach of children and dispose of them correctly.

Disposal of Old Equipment and Batteries: The manual provides guidance on the proper disposal of old electrical and electronic products and used batteries in accordance with national legislation, emphasizing the importance of recycling to save resources and prevent negative environmental effects.
