Overview

The Pandora NAV-X is an autonomous compact telemetry module designed to enhance Pandora service-security systems by adding advanced telemetric and service functions.

Function Description

The module expands system features to include:

  • Web-service and Mobile Applications: Full access to remote control and monitoring functions via the pandora-on.com web-service and mobile applications (Pandora Online for Android, Pandora Pro for iOS). This includes displaying current coordinates and event history.
  • DTMF-commands: Control of the system via phone using DTMF commands.
  • Notifications: Voice and SMS notifications for system events.
  • Listening Function: A built-in microphone allows for a "Listening" function.

Important Technical Specifications

  • GSM Modem: Built-in GSM modem supporting GPRS/SMS/LBS services.
  • SIM Slot: Features a nano-SIM slot.
  • GPS/GLONASS Receiver: Integrated GPS/GLONASS receiver for accurate location determination.
  • Radio Interface: Built-in 2.4 GHz radio interface (BLE 4.2).
  • USB Port: Equipped with a micro-USB port for connectivity.
  • PIN-codes:
    • Secret PIN-code: A 4-digit code, written on the Owner's card, which cannot be changed. Used for critical functions like switching off radio tags, enabling "Service mode," and disabling engine blocking.
    • Service PIN-code: A 4-digit code (default: 1-1-1-1) used for entering programming mode and changing settings.
    • Guest PIN-code: A 4-digit code (default: 1-2-3-4) used by non-main owner numbers to access control functions.
  • Conformity: Complies with Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive EMC 2004/108/EC and R&TTE Directive 1999/5/EC.

VALET Button and LED Indicator:

  • The VALET button is a multifunctional button used for changing module settings.
  • The LED indicator (red and green) displays the current state of the module and provides feedback during programming.

Owner's Card: Contains private information under a protective layer, including:

  • LOGIN: A 10-digit number for adding the module to web services and mobile applications. Cannot be changed or restored.
  • PASS: An 8-character alphanumeric code for adding the module to web services and mobile applications. Cannot be changed or restored.
  • PIN (Secret PIN-code): A 4-digit number for critical functions. Cannot be changed or restored.
  • Phone Number: The number of the SIM-card supplied with the module. Not used if the SIM-card is changed.

Control:

  • Web-service and Mobile Applications:
    • Requires creating an account on pandora-on.com or via mobile apps (Pandora Online/Pro).
    • Registration involves providing an email (LOGIN) and password.
    • After registration, the module is added by entering the LOGIN and PASS from the Owner's card, naming the car, and clicking "Add."
    • Minimum mobile device requirements: Android V4.4; iOS V10.
  • Control using a Phone:
    • The "Main owner's number" is used for remote control, voice, and SMS alerts. Additional notification numbers can be added.
    • To access control functions from a non-main owner's number, the "Guest PIN-code" is required.
    • Commands are dialed as DTMF tones during a voice call to the module's SIM card number.
    • Key commands include:
      • #: Repeat voice notifications of the initial menu.
      • 9*: Help (lists system control commands).
      • 258*: System information about current firmware version.
      • 297*: End a call.
      • 007*: Turn on the built-in microphone.
      • 100*: Request SIM-card balance.
      • 500*: Request current coordinates.
      • 888*: Enable radio tags (immobilizer and Anti-HiJack functions).
      • 998*XXXX: Disable radio tags (requires Secret PIN-code).
      • 1*: Arming.
      • 10*: Silent arming.
      • 0*: Disarming.
      • 00*: Silent disarming.
      • 123*: Remote engine start.
      • 321*: Remote engine stop.
      • 789*: Enable automatic engine starts.
      • 987*: Disable automatic engine starts.
      • 159*: Unlock trunk.
      • 156*: Switch on an engine heater.
      • 651*: Switch off an engine heater.
      • 551*XXXX: Enable "Service mode" (requires Secret PIN-code).
      • 552*: Disable "Service mode."
      • 15*: "Tow truck" mode (disables motion, shock, and tilt sensors while armed).
      • 666*: Activate engine blocking.
      • 999*XXXX: Deactivate engine blocking (requires Secret PIN-code).
      • 456*: Switch on an additional channel.
      • 654*: Switch off an additional channel.

Changing Settings by a Phone:

  1. Disarm the system.
  2. Call the system number and wait for an answer.
  3. Turn ignition on for 3-6 seconds (max 7 seconds), then switch it off.
  4. The module will enter settings mode, and a list of commands will be heard.
    • 1*: Phone number settings.
      • 1*: Main owner's phone number.
      • 2*: Additional owner's phone number.
      • 3*: Second additional owner's phone number.
      • 4*: Balance inquiry number.
      • 5*: System's phone number.
    • 2*: Additional functions.
      • 1*: Changing guest PIN-code.
      • 2*: Guest calls (enable/disable control from non-main owner numbers).
      • 3*: Remote engine blocking (enable/disable engine blocking via 666* command).
      • 4*: Listening function (enable/disable 007* command).
      • 5*: Set threshold of voltage for sending a text message.

Entering Programming Mode/Service PIN-code:

  • To change settings, update firmware, or pair the module, it must be in programming mode.
  • Enter the "Service PIN-code" (default 1-1-1-1) using the VALET button.
  • Each digit is entered by pressing the VALET button the corresponding number of times, with pauses between presses not exceeding 1 second. Green flashes confirm presses, a red flash confirms digit input. Correct PIN-code is confirmed by a series of red and green flashes.

Programming Menu (via VALET button):

  • Level #1: Pairing the module with a security-service system.
  • Level #2: Changing the "Service PIN-code."

Programming and Updating (via Pandora Alarm Studio):

  • Download Pandora Alarm Studio to a PC (Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10).
  • Connect the module to the PC via a USB cable.
  • Enter the "Service PIN-code" using the VALET button; Pandora Alarm Studio will automatically connect.

Maintenance Features

SIM Card Management:

  • Monitoring: Owners should monitor the status/balance of the installed SIM card for correct GSM function.
  • Changing SIM Card:
    • Ensure the new SIM card is working (voice, SMS, 2G internet).
    • Disable PIN request on the new SIM.
    • Remove the old SIM and insert the new one.
    • Note: The factory-installed SIM card is linked to the modem and cannot work with other devices.
    • After changing the SIM, update "System phone number," "Balance inquiry number," "GPRS (APN) operator access point," "GPRS operator username," and "GPRS operator password" settings in Pandora Alarm Studio.

Installation:

  • Pre-installation: Configure and check the module before installation.
  • Fixing: Must be rigidly fixed to prevent damage and movement.
  • Environment: Install in places free from liquids, condensate, and high temperatures.
  • Power Disconnection: Perform installation with module connectors and the negative battery terminal disconnected.
  • Wiring: Follow car manufacturer requirements for wire connections and insulation. Avoid contact with sharp elements and moving parts. Use rubber bushings for wiring through holes.
  • Wiring Length: Ensure a bit of free length in wiring to prevent destruction by car vibration.
  • Main Power Supply:
    • Black wire (-): Connect to car "ground" (connect first).
    • Red wire (+12V): Connect to a reliable conductor with constant +12V.
  • Module Placement:
    • Good conditions for GPS/GLONASS, GSM, and 2.4GHz radio signals.
    • Install front side up (VALET button and LED facing up).
    • GPS/GLONASS signals pass through plastic, glass, but not metal.
    • Warning: Do not connect the module to car wires with normal voltage other than 12V.

Firmware Updates:

  • It is recommended to update the module's firmware before installation and programming.

Warranty Obligations:

  • Duration: 3 years from purchase, but no more than 3.5 years from production.
  • Conditions: Correct operation is guaranteed if exploitation, installation, storage, and transportation conditions are met. Device must be used according to installation scheme and user manuals.
  • Voided Warranty:
    • Expiration of warranty period.
    • Failure to meet exploitation, installation, storage, or transportation conditions.
    • Mechanical damage (fire, car accident, aggressive liquids, water seepage, improper use).
    • Damage caused by incorrect settings and parameter adjustment.
    • Missing or improperly filled warranty card.
  • Batteries: Warranty does not cover batteries, as they have their own service lifetime.
  • Post-warranty: Maintenance and repairs after warranty expiration are at the user's expense.
