Overview

The device described in this manual is a "VEGA" star tent, designed and supplied by Party Space. This manual provides instructions for its setup, use, and maintenance, available in Dutch, French, English, and German.

Function Description:

The VEGA star tent is a temporary shelter structure, likely used for events, gatherings, or as a temporary outdoor space. Its design, as depicted in the illustrations, suggests a multi-pointed star shape supported by central poles and anchored to the ground at multiple points. The tent is designed to provide protection from the elements, with options for side walls to enhance enclosure and weather resistance.

Important Technical Specifications:

While specific material specifications are not detailed, the manual emphasizes the importance of proper anchoring and structural integrity, suggesting the tent is designed to withstand certain environmental conditions. Key dimensions for various tent sizes are provided for anchoring purposes:

  • 13,65 x 8,65 m: Requires an anchoring distance of 3,65 m.
  • 16,40 x 10,40 m: Requires an anchoring distance of 4,40 m.
  • 19,10 x 21,10 m: Requires an anchoring distance of 5,10 m.
  • 21,85 x 13,85 m: Requires an anchoring distance of 5,85 m.

These dimensions refer to the overall size of the tent and the required distance for the anchoring points from the central pole base. The manual also mentions that for the 13,65 m tent, two identical tubes (pole 3 or 4) are sufficient for the mast, while other sizes require all tubes to assemble the pole. This indicates a modular pole system.

The tent is designed to withstand wind gusts up to 50 km/h, with a recommendation to take it down if gusts exceed 65 km/h. This highlights a critical safety specification related to wind resistance.

Usage Features:

The manual outlines a detailed process for setting up and using the VEGA star tent, emphasizing safety and proper installation.

  • Anchoring: The first step involves determining and securing the anchoring points. This includes identifying the central point of the double star tent, forming a triangle with a measuring rope to determine the first two ground anchors, and ensuring the measuring rope is taut. A plate for double anchoring is used, with pegs driven through holes in the plate and into the ground (approximately 5 cm deep). The process involves securing one ring from around a peg, moving the measuring rope to the other side of the remaining intact side, and re-tightening it. For soft ground, a specially designed pole base replaces the temporary peg.
  • Pole Assembly: The tent's central pole is assembled from multiple tubes. For the 13,65 m tent, two specific tubes (3 or 4) are used, while other sizes require all tubes. The manual illustrates the sequence of assembling the pole sections.
  • Tent Erection: The tent roof should be laid out on a clean ground sheet to prevent it from getting dirty. Protective pockets around the horseshoe-shaped ends of each leg are slid over the corresponding pegs. The first pole is slid under the roof to the highest points, and a plastic top is fitted inside the roof. Two people are recommended for pushing the first pole upwards, with one person pushing the top of the mast and the other pushing the bottom towards the center of the tent. This step is repeated for the second pole.
  • Pole Base and Tensioning: The bottom of the pole is fitted into a pole base. A handle is mounted on the pole using a provided screw. The pole is then twisted upwards to create tension in the roof.
  • Final Anchoring: A second peg is driven through the remaining hole in the plate for double anchoring at each anchoring point.
  • Side Walls (Optional): Side walls are attached to the star tent using a Velcro strip. It is important to lay the side wall open with the correct side up. The Velcro strip should be firmly attached along the full length of the side wall. Click closures are then used to secure the side walls on each side, ensuring the tent is wind and water-tight.

Maintenance Features:

The manual provides several important maintenance and safety guidelines:

  • Regular Inspection: The tent's anchoring should be checked regularly for safety, especially before and during use, to prevent damage and ensure user safety.
  • Weather Precautions: In severe weather conditions, additional anchoring or dismantling of the tent may be necessary. In stormy weather, the tent should be stored to prevent permanent damage.
  • Wind Limits: The tent should be taken down if wind gusts exceed 65 km/h.
  • Snow Removal: In case of snowfall, snow must be regularly removed from the tent canvas to prevent excessive load and damage. If heavy rainfall or other materials accumulate, they should also be removed. The tent should not be stored wet; if it cannot be dried immediately, it should be spread out in a dry, well-ventilated area. Snowfall can also cause the tent temperature to rise by 2 degrees, melting the snow and causing the tent to sag.
  • Condensation: When the tent remains outdoors for extended periods (e.g., overnight), condensation may occur. This can collect at seams and form drops. This is normal and does not mean the tent is not waterproof.
  • Storage: The tent should never be stored wet or moist to prevent mold formation.
  • Warranty: Damage caused by non-compliance with these guidelines is not covered by the warranty. Any damage to the tent or its parts must be reported in writing within 5 days of receipt of the goods to customer.service@partyspace.eu.

The manual emphasizes that the tent is intended for temporary shelter and not for permanent installation. Proper adherence to the instructions is crucial for the safety and longevity of the VEGA star tent.
