Overview

This document is the Operation & Care Manual for the Pedigo P-2010-S Blanket Warming Cabinet.

Function Description:

The Pedigo P-2010-S is a blanket warming cabinet designed to elevate and maintain blanket temperatures to a level that increases patient comfort. It is intended for warming 100% cotton blankets only and should not be used for synthetic blend fabrics or items containing plastic, rubber, or metal snaps, studs, or hooks. The cabinet operates by low-heat-density electrothermal cable mounted against the walls, eliminating the need for a heat circulating fan.

  • Temperature Setting: Users can rotate the control knob to set the desired temperature. The set temperature appears on the digital display.
  • Temperature Display Toggle: The unit defaults to displaying the set temperature. Users can press and hold the Temperature Display Button for 5 seconds to toggle between displaying the "ACT" (actual inside air temperature) and "SET" (set point) temperatures.
  • Fahrenheit/Celsius Toggle: The unit defaults to Fahrenheit. To change to Celsius, turn the control knob to the OFF position, then press and hold the Temperature Display button for 5 seconds. The control will show "°C" for 3 seconds to verify selection. Repeat to toggle back to Fahrenheit. The unit retains the selected °C or °F setting after a power failure.
  • Blanket Loading: The chamber should be loaded with 100% cotton blankets. The epoxy-coated blanket support assembly MUST be used to hold blankets. A full load of blankets takes 1-2 hours to reach optimum temperature. The cabinet door should be securely closed after initial loading and each blanket removal.
  • Blanket Rotation: Blankets at the bottom of the load should be rotated to the top daily to ensure equal usage and prevent discoloration.
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Do not warm synthetic blend fabrics or items containing plastic, rubber, or metal snaps, studs, hooks, etc.
    • Do not block the sensor by overloading the cabinet with blankets.
    • Do not use the warming cabinet in the presence of flammable anesthetic mixtures (with air, oxygen, or nitrous oxide) due to explosion risk.
    • Pedigo warmers should not be left unattended for periods longer than 24 hours; disconnect the warmer from its power source if left unattended for more than 24 hours.
    • The blanket support assembly and shelf must be used when warming blankets.
    • Do not overload the cabinet; blankets must not exceed the height of the support assembly, and a 1" gap should be allowed between lower blankets and the shelf.
  • EMC Information: The P-2010-S requires special precautions regarding EMC and should be installed and put into service according to the EMC information provided. Portable and mobile RF communications equipment can affect medical electrical equipment. The power cord attached is permanently attached (~2.5m in length). It should not be used adjacent to or stacked with other equipment.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Cleaning:
    • Disconnect the cabinet from the power source before cleaning.
    • Remove all detachable items (blanket support assembly, shelf) and clean them separately.
    • Clean interior metal surfaces with a damp cloth and mild commercial detergent, avoiding abrasive cleaning compounds. Rinse with a sponge and warm water, then wipe dry or air dry. Leave doors open until the interior is completely dry.
    • The interior can be wiped with a sanitizing solution approved for stainless steel surfaces after cleaning and rinsing.
    • Clean the exterior with a cleaner recommended for stainless steel surfaces, spraying the cleaner on a clean cloth and wiping with the grain of the stainless steel.
    • Clean window glass with a standard commercial glass cleaner.
    • Wipe control panel, door vents, door handles, and door gaskets thoroughly.
    • Wipe door gaskets and control panel dry with a clean, soft cloth.
    • To maintain the protective film coating on polished stainless steel, clean the exterior with a cleaner recommended for stainless steel surfaces, spraying the cleaning agent on a clean cloth and wiping with the grain of the stainless steel.
  • Protecting Stainless Steel Surfaces:
    • Avoid abrasive cleaning compounds, chloride-based cleaners, or cleaners containing quaternary salts.
    • Never use hydrochloric acid (muriatic acid) on stainless steel surfaces.
    • Never use wire brushes, metal scouring pads, or scrapers to remove residue.
    • Spilled items should be removed and the area wiped as soon as possible, at least once a day.
    • Thoroughly rinse surfaces after using a cleaning agent and wipe standing water as quickly as possible after rinsing.
  • Annual Preventative Maintenance:
    • Ensure the Operation and Care Manual is available to all users and that all users are properly trained.
    • Inspect the condition of the plug and cord; replace if damaged.
    • Clean dust from outer vents and around the top bonnet.
    • Check door gasket integrity for tears, wear, or looseness; ensure a tight seal and replace if compromised.
    • Check the air temperature sensor mount on the interior of the chamber; ensure the metal guard is in place and wires are in good condition.
    • Check the blanket support assembly and shelf for missing pieces.
    • Check basket and side rail condition (if applicable); ensure baskets move smoothly and freely.
    • Check caster or leg condition; ensure mounting bolts and assembly are secure.
    • Check control panel overlay condition for tears or excessive wear; ensure buttons work properly.
    • Check that all control LEDs light up as applicable.
    • Verify if the Set Temperature is comparable to the Actual temperature displayed; if not, the control needs calibration, and service should be contacted.
  • Troubleshooting Error Codes: The manual provides a list of error codes (E-10, E-11, E-30, E-31, E-70, E-82/E-83, E-90, E-91, -AC-) with descriptions, results (e.g., Inoperative Unit, Unit will shut down), and possible causes/service required. For most issues, contacting the Pedigo Service Department is recommended.
