  • Pass-Thru Models: PTR & PTS Series
  • Sliding Door Models: SDB & SDP Series

The manual emphasizes safety, proper installation, operation, and maintenance to ensure efficient and long-lasting performance of the units.

Function Description:

Perlick Commercial Back Bar units are heavy-duty refrigeration systems designed for commercial use, primarily in bars and restaurants, to store and dispense beverages. They are equipped with various configurations to suit different needs, including standard doors, narrow doors, pass-thru designs, sliding doors, and direct draw systems for draft beer. Some models feature dual-zone refrigeration for storing different types of beverages, such as beer, white wine, and red wine, at their optimal temperatures. The units are designed to automatically maintain specific storage temperatures, typically around 36°F for general refrigeration, 45°F for white wine, and 60°F for red wine.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Refrigerant: R290 Hydrocarbon Refrigerant, an eco-friendly option. The manual explicitly states that the product does not contain prohibited refrigerants like HFCs, CFCs, or HCFCs, complying with CARB and other HFC prohibition laws.
  • Insulation: Blown foam insulation using blowing agent R-611 (Methyl Formate), also free of HFCs, CFCs, or HCFCs.
  • Electrical Connection: Self-contained units come with a NEMA 5-15P 90° plug and a 6'5" cord. They require connection to a separately fused power source in accordance with national and local electrical codes. Extension cords are prohibited.
  • Drainage: Each unit has a floor drain in the right rear corner, connectable to an external floor drain via 3/4" NPT or 1" NPS thread connections. Self-contained models feature automatic condensate evaporation. Remote evaporator condensate plumbing requires sloping to a drain with a trap.
  • Temperature Control: Digital temperature controllers are used for precise temperature adjustments. Dual-zone models have separate controllers for each compartment.
  • Temperature Range (DZS Models): Adjustable range of 34°F - 42°F for refrigeration and 40°F - 60°F for wine. A minimum temperature difference of 10°F and a maximum difference of 30°F (DZS60) or 20°F (DZS36) between compartments are specified.
  • Door Overlays: Overlay panels should be 3/4" thick, with weight not exceeding 20 lbs for solid doors, 10 lbs for glass doors, or 10 lbs for drawer models.
  • Internal Lighting: Equipped with interior LED lights that illuminate when a manual rocker light switch is turned on.
  • Compressor Warranty: 5-year compressor warranty.
  • Parts Warranty: 1-year parts warranty.
  • Labor Warranty: 1-year labor warranty (applies to the United States and Canada).

Usage Features:

  • Installation Flexibility: Units can be installed with casters, legs, or directly to the floor (requiring NSF-certified silicone sealing).
  • Door Swing Direction: The manual provides detailed instructions for changing the door swing direction, though it notes this is not advisable if the door lacks a full-length handle.
  • Adjustable Shelving and Dividers: Shelves and drawer dividers can be repositioned to accommodate different product sizes and quantities.
  • Sliding Doors: Instructions are provided for removing, installing, and adjusting the spring tension of sliding doors. Some sliding door models include a keyed lock.
  • Wood Overlay Installation: Detailed steps for attaching custom wood overlay panels to doors and drawers, allowing for aesthetic integration with existing cabinetry.
  • Wine Rack Trim (Optional): Wine reserve racks come with stainless steel fronts, with optional unfinished solid hardwood fronts that can be stained or finished to match cabinetry.
  • Electric Condensate Evapaway (Optional): A 115-volt electric condensate pan can be installed for high-humidity areas, requiring a separate circuit and 4" minimum legs.
  • Faucet and Dispensing Head Installation: Refers to separate instructions included with the respective kits for direct draw models.
  • Digital Temperature Control: Easy adjustment of set points using "SET" and arrow keys, with the display returning to cabinet temperature after 10 seconds.
  • Product Temperature Monitoring: Recommends using an accurate thermometer in a water-filled plastic bottle to check product temperature, allowing for precise adjustments.

Maintenance Features:

  • Safety First: Emphasizes disconnecting main electrical power before any repair or maintenance.
  • LED Light Replacement: Step-by-step guide for replacing interior LED lights.
  • Drawer Extender Cleaning/Lubrication: Instructions for removing drawers to clean and lubricate extenders with food-grade lubricant.
  • Stainless Steel Care & Cleaning: Comprehensive guide on preventing corrosion and cleaning stainless steel surfaces. It highlights the importance of using non-abrasive tools, cleaning with polish lines, using alkaline/non-chloride cleaners, and thorough rinsing and drying. Prohibits the use of hydrochloric acid, abrasive cleansers, steel wool, or scouring pads.
  • Cabinet Interior/Exterior Cleaning: Recommends washing with a mild soap and lukewarm water solution with baking soda, rinsing, and drying thoroughly. Avoids getting water on lights, controllers, and fan motors.
  • Condenser Cleaning: Advises cleaning the condenser every three months using a soft bristle brush and vacuum to remove dust and lint. Warns against damaging or crushing condenser fins or tubing, as this can void the warranty.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: A table listing common problems, their causes, and solutions to help users resolve minor issues without needing a service call.
  • Parts and Service Information: Provides contact details for product information, service, and replacement parts, emphasizing the use of genuine Perlick parts to maintain warranty and prevent hazardous conditions.
