Troubleshooting (continued)
Problem (HDMI) Solution
No audio output from HDMI
connection.
No video output from HDMI
connection.
EPG (GUIDE Plus+) data is
not available.
You will not hear any sound from the HDMI output if the
source device is only DVI/HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital
Content Protection)-compatible.
It is not possible to output SACD or copy-controlled DVD-
Audio sources from the HDMI connection.
When the HDMI on this recorder is used to connect to a TV, it
can be no digital audio/surround sound on Coaxial/Optical
output, depending on the TV’s audio capabilities. Press SETUP
on the remote control, go to Audio Output setting and set the
HDMI to { Disable }.
Make sure that you have activated this recorder as the HDMI
input in the settings for the device you are using. See HDMI
setting.
HDMI connection can only be made to HDMI-equipped devices
with HDCP (High Bandwidth Digital Content Protection). If you
wish to connect to a DVI connector (equipped with HDCP), you
will need a separate adaptor (DVI to HDMI).
Make sure the resolution of this recorder matches the device
you have connected using the HDMI. See HDMI setting.
Check if the HDMI cable is faulty. If there is not signal received
from the HDMI connection, the { Video Upscaling } and { HDMI
output } options in the system menu video output settings will
be greyed out. Replace a new HDMI cable.
When connecting to a non-HDCP compliant TV, the HDCP
warning message will appear only on the analogue video output.
When the HDMI and component video are used to connect to a
TV at the same time, it can be no picture output from the
component video connection. Disconnect the HDMI cable.
Turn off the recorder to standby mode for at least 24 hours. It
will enable downloading of TV listings data. If the recorder is
connected to a cable box/satellite receiver, make sure that it is
switched to the host channel during that 24 hours.
Make sure that no timer recording is programmed during this
timing, as it will interrupt the EPG downloading.
