This document describes the Philips DVP5990 and DVP5992 DVD players, which are designed for home entertainment.

The Philips DVP5990/DVP5992 is a DVD player that supports playback of various disc formats including DVD, VCD, SVCD, CD audio, MP3, WMA, WMV, and DivX. Disc Playback:

USB Operation:

Create MP3 Files:

  • Convert audio CD tracks into MP3 files and save them to a USB flash drive.

    • Mp3/Jpeg Nav: Select display menus for MP3/Picture disc navigation.
    • Password: Set/change password for Parental control and Disc Lock.

Maintenance Features

Software Upgrade:

  • The unit's software can be upgraded to ensure compatibility with the latest formats.
  • Upgrade involves downloading the latest software version from the Philips website, burning it to a CD-R, and loading it into the unit.

Cleaning Discs:

  • Use a micro fibre cleaning cloth from the center to the edge in a straight line movement.

Troubleshooting Guide:
