Changing Alarm Settings
Changing Alarm Settings
You can change alarm settings for the current monitoring session. The alarm settings are
reset to default values each time you admit a new patient, change the patient type, or
change the monitoring mode.
When changing settings, make sure you follow the policies of your healthcare facility.
You can change alarm settings in the following ways:
• Adjust the minimum and maximum alarm limits for each physiological measurement.
• Turn alarm audio on or off for individual measurements or for all measurements.
• Adjust the alarm volume for all alarms.
• Show or hide alarm limits in numeric panes.
• Enable automatic recording/printing when an alarm occurs.
• Set alarm limits automatically.
• Restore default alarm settings.
Most settings are available on the Alarm Settings menu, but some can also be accessed
from individual numeric panes.
Note
Default values are either factory-set default values or values set by your system
administrator.
Changing Alarm Limits
WARNING
The default alarm limits on your monitor can be configured for the patient population in your care
area. However, you should always check that the alarm settings are appropriate for your patient
before you start monitoring.
When changing alarm limits, do not use extreme alarm limit values, which will render the alarm system
useless.
Notes:
• You may not be able to change alarm limits if your system administrator has enabled
the Lock Alarm Limits option.
• During the time that you are changing alarm limits, the alarm system continues to
operate normally.
