EarlyVue VS30 Instructions for Use 6-15
Taking Automatic NBP Measurements Using NBP Intervals
Using NBP Auto Interval
You can set up an NBP Auto Interval in either the Interval Settings menu or the
Continuous Settings menu, depending on the monitoring mode you want to use for
measurements. See “Accessing NBP Interval Settings” on page 6-14.
The NBP Auto Interval specifies a time interval, such as every 15 minutes, at which the
monitor initiates an automatic NBP measurement on the current patient. After each
measurement, the NBP values and all other available vital signs are saved to the patient
record.
Measurements continue indefinitely, until you do one of the following:
• Change or cancel the interval.
• Switch to another monitoring mode.
• Admit a new patient.
NBP Auto Interval enables you to select from a list of intervals ranging from 1 minute to
120 minutes. A new automatic NBP is completed and saved to the patient record each
time the interval has elapsed. Measurements continue until you explicitly stop them.
Your system administrator can configure a default NBP Auto Interval. This default setting
is always selected when you first open the Interval Settings menu or the Continuous
Settings menu. However, you can change the interval.
To set up the NBP Auto Interval and immediately start measurements
Caution
• To prevent your NBP interval settings from being disabled, it is critical that you admit your patient
before setting an NBP auto interval. When you admit a new patient, any previously configured
NBP auto interval or interval program is canceled. Therefore, if you admit a patient after setting
the interval, automatic NBP measurements will not be taken unless you set the interval program
again.
• Before starting an NBP measurement, ensure that you have selected the appropriate cuff and
applied it properly. See “Selecting an NBP Cuff” on page 6-2.
1 Place the NBP cuff on the patient, making sure that the cuff is also securely
connected to the monitor.
2 Open the Interval Settings menu or the Continuous Settings menu. If you need help
accessing the menu, see “Accessing NBP Interval Settings” on page 6-14.
3 Touch the NBP Auto Interval menu and select an interval. Options range from 1
minute to 120 minutes.
After selecting the interval, you can either immediately start the measurements or
delay the start of the measurements.
4 To immediately start the interval measurements, touch the Start Interval button.
The menu closes and you are returned to the main screen, where the first interval
measurement is in progress. In the NBP numeric pane, the Interval icon appears in
the upper right, along with the interval value. For example, if you selected a 10
minute interval, the numeral 10 appears next to the Interval icon.
