9-8 EarlyVue VS30 Instructions for Use
Enabling and Disabling CO
2
Standby Mode
The CO2 Hardware option enables you to turn off the CO
2
module when you are not
monitoring a patient’s CO
2
. Turning off the CO
2
module extends the life of the module,
and extends the length of time required between calibrations.
Note
If the current CO
2
Hardware setting is Standby, no values appear in the CO2 numeric
pane. Instead, the pane displays the phrase CO2 Standby.
To turn the CO
2
module on or place it in standby mode
1 Touch the CO2 numeric pane.
The CO2 menu appears, displaying the current settings on the General tab.
2 Touch the CO2 Hardware menu and select one of the following:
- On
- Standby
3 Touch Done.
Turning etCO
2
and IPI Alarm Audio Off
WARNING
Never disable an auditory alarm if this action could compromise patient safety.
Do not rely exclusively on the auditory alarm system for patient monitoring. The most reliable
method of patient monitoring requires correct operation of the monitor and close observation of
the patient.
Alarm audio is on by default unless either of the following is true:
You are operating in Alarms Off monitoring mode (if this mode was enabled by your
system administrator). See “Alarms Off Mode” on page 4-16.
Audio is globally turned off (if this option was enabled by your system administrator).
See “Global Audio Off Mode” on page 4-15.
The CO2 menu enables you to control the alarm audio for etCO
2
and IPI. You can touch
the Alarm Audio On/Off button for either alarm to toggle the audio on and off for that
alarm. Turning audio off for one alarm does not turn it off for the other; they are
independent. For details on turning alarm audio on and off, see “To turn off alarm audio
for one measurement” on page 4-9.
