Changing Respiration Rate Settings

To change the source for the respiration rate measurement
1 Touch the Resp numeric pane.
The Respiration menu appears, displaying the current settings.
2 Touch the Resp Source menu and select one of the following:
- Auto — Searches for the first available respiration rate source: awRR, then RRa.
- awRR — Derives respiration rate from the etCO

measurement, if available.
- RRa — Derives respiration rate from the SpO
2
measurement (if you have the
Masimo rainbow SET option).
- Manual Input — Enables you to manually enter a respiration value.
Note
If you do not have the Masimo rainbow SET option installed, the Auto and RRa
selections are not available on the Resp Source menu.
3 Touch Done.
Configuring awRR Apnea Alarms
The awRR Apnea Alarm setting defines the length of time between breaths before the
awRR Apnea alarm occurs. For example, if the awRR Apnea Alarm is set to 20 seconds,
and the monitor does not detect a breath for more than 20 seconds, the monitor sounds
an awRR Apnea alarm.The default time is 20 seconds.
The awRR Apnea alarm is always a high priority alarm.
This setting can be configured only when the monitor is in Interval or Continuous
monitoring mode.
To configure awRR apnea alarms
1 With the monitor in Interval or Continuous monitoring mode, touch the Resp numeric
pane.
The Respiration menu appears, displaying the current settings on the General tab.
2 Touch the Advanced tab to open it.
3 Touch the awRR Apnea Alarm menu and select one of the following:
- 10 seconds
- 15 seconds
- 20 seconds
- 25 seconds
- 30 seconds
- 35 seconds
- 40 seconds
4 Touch Done.
