EarlyVue VS30 Instructions for Use 11-3
Changing Respiration Rate Settings
Changing Respiration Rate Settings
Use the Respiration menu to change:
• Respiration rate source
• The awRR apnea alarm time
• Respiration rate alarm audio on or off
• Respiration rate alarm limits
When changing settings, make sure you follow the policies of your healthcare facility.
To open the Respiration menu:
• Touch the Resp numeric pane.
The Respiration menu appears. Current settings are displayed.
Note
Under the following conditions, touching the Resp numeric pane does not open the
Respiration menu, so you cannot access respiration rate settings:
• Your monitor has neither the CO
2
module nor the Masimo rainbow acoustic
respiration (RRa) option.
• Your monitor has the CO
2
module and you are operating in Spot Check mode.
See “Summary of Respiration Rate Sources and Entry Methods” on page 11-2.
Changing the Respiration Source
Depending on the optional CO
2
and Masimo rainbow RRa technologies configured on
your monitor, you can set the monitor to derive the respiration rate from different
sources.
If you have sources for both awRR (from etCO
2
) and RRa (from Masimo rainbow acoustic
monitoring), you can configure the monitor to automatically search for an available
respiration rate source. It searches first for awRR; if awRR is not found, it searches for
RRa. The first source found is displayed in the Resp numeric pane.
If you select Manual Input as the source, the following occurs:
• A new field, named Input Resp Measurement, appears on the Respiration menu,
enabling you to manually enter the respiration value.
• The alarm limits fields disappear from the Respiration menu.
• The Alarm Audio On/Off button disappears from the Respiration menu.
• In the Resp numeric pane:
- The No Alarm icon is displayed to indicate that no visual or auditory alarm
indicators will be triggered for respiration.
- The phrase Manual Input is displayed to indicate that the respiration value is
sourced from manual input.
- The measurement value appears in gray.
